    Abstract

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa SMP pada materi bentuk aljabar, mengetahui faktor penyebabnya, dan mengetahui jenis kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa berdasarkan kecemasan matematisnya. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan metode penelitian studi kasus (case study). Subjek penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas VII sebanyak 41 siswa yang telah mempelajari materi bentuk aljabar dan dipilih berdasarkan pertimbangan tertentu (purposive sampling). Lalu dari 41 siswa dipilih 10 siswa yang terdiri dari siswa dengan kecemasan matematis tinggi, sedang, dan rendah untuk diwawancara lebih lanjut. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu angket, soal tes, dan wawancara dengan instrumen berupa angket kecemasan matematis, tes uraian bentuk aljabar, dan pedoman wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) siswa melakukan semua jenis kesalahan berdasarkan teori Nolting dengan kesalahan paling banyak adalah kesalahan konsep; 2) faktor penyebab kesalahan berasal dari faktor kognitif (kemampuan kognitif siswa pada konsep prasyarat dan konsep dasar aljabar, konsep substitusi nilai variabel, serta jarang melakukan latihan soal yang bervariatif) dan faktor non kognitif (terburu-buru, panik, malas, tidak teliti, lingkungan kelas, teman sekelas, dan padatnya jadwal pemberian materi); dan 3) siswa dengan kecemasan matematis tinggi dan sedang melakukan semua jenis kesalahan berdasarkan Teori Nolting dengan paling banyak melakukan kesalahan konsep, sedangkan siswa dengan kecemasan matematis rendah melakukan semua jenis kesalahan berdasarkan Nolting kecuali kesalahan aplikasi konsep dan paling banyak melakukan kesalahan kecerobohan. This research aims to identify the types of errors made by junior high school students in algebraic forms, determine the factors that cause these errors, and categorize the types of errors made by students based on their mathematical anxiety. The research approach used is qualitative with a case study method. The subjects of this study are 41 seventh-grade students who had studied algebraic forms and were selected based on specific considerations (purposive sampling). From the 41 students, 10 students consisting of students with high, moderate, and low mathematical anxiety were selected for further interviews. The data collection techniques used included questionnaires, tests, and interviews using instruments such as mathematical anxiety questionnaire, an algebraic form test, and interview guidelines. The research results showed that 1) students made all types of errors based on Nolting's theory, with the most common error being conceptual errors; 2) the causes of errors contained from cognitive factors (students' cognitive abilities in prerequisite concepts and basic algebraic concepts, the concept of variable substitution, and infrequent practice with varied problems) and non-cognitive factors (rushing, panicking, laziness, carelessness, classroom environment, classmates, and a crowded schedule of material delivery); and 3) students with high and moderate mathematical anxiety made all types of errors based on Nolting's theory, with the most common being conceptual errors, while students with low mathematical anxiety made all types of errors based on Nolting's theory except for application errors, with the most common being carelessness errors.
