Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan literasi spasial peserta didik pada materi peta. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pengujian efektivitas model pembelajaran tertentu guna meningkatkan literasi spasial peserta didik secara signifikan. Hal ini disebabkan dari kurangnya keterlibatan peserta didik dalam proses pembelajaran serta minimnya penggunaan model pembelajaran yang dapat mendukung kemampuan literasi spasial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas model pembelajaran Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) dalam meningkatkan kemampuan literasi spasial peserta didik sekolah dasar. Pendekatan yang dipilih adalah kuantitatif agar dapat mengukur perubahan kemampuan secara objektif melalui data numerik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Pre-Experimental dengan desain one group pretest-posttest untuk menunjukkan secara terukur seberapa besar pengaruh perlakuan terhadap hasil belajar peserta didik. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes berupa soal esai. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 28 peserta didik kelas V di salah satu SD Negeri Kecamatan Sukasari, Kota Bandung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan literasi spasial peserta didik sebelum penerapan model CTL berada pada kategori sangat kurang, ditunjukkan oleh rendahnya nilai rata-rata pretest. Setelah diberi treatment melalui penerapan model CTL, terjadi peningkatan signifikan pada nilai rata-rata posttest yang menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan literasi spasial peserta didik berada dalam kategori sangat baik. Efektivitas model CTL diperkuat dengan uji perbedaan rerata dan perhitungan N-Gain yang menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dengan kategori efektivitas tinggi. Dengan demikian, model CTL terbukti efektif digunakan dalam meningkatkan literasi spasial khususnya pada materi peta di tingkat SD. This research is motivated by the low spatial literacy skills of students in map-related material. Therefore, it is necessary to test the effectiveness of a specific learning model to significantly improve students’ spatial literacy. The main causes are the lack of student engagement in the learning process and the limited use of instructional models that support the development of spatial literacy. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model in improving the spatial literacy skills of elementary school students. A quantitative approach was selected to objectively measure the change in students’ abilities through numerical data. The research method used is Pre-Experimental Design with one-group pretest-posttest, which allows the effect of the treatment on student learning outcomes to be measured quantitatively. The instrument used is an essay-type test. The research subjects consisted of 28 fifth-grade students from a public elementary school in Sukasari District, Bandung City. The results show that students’ spatial literacy skills before the implementation of the CTL model were in the very low category, as indicated by the low average pretest scores. After the CTL model was applied, there was a significant increase in the average posttest scores, indicating that student’s spatial literacy skills had reached the very good category. The effectiveness of the CTL model is supported by the results of the mean difference test and the N-Gain calculation, both of which indicate a significant improvement with a high level of effectiveness. Thus, the CTL model has been proven effective in improving spatial literacy, particularly in map-related content at the elementary school level.
