Abstract
ABSTRAK Konformitas teman sebaya merupakan faktor yang berperan penting dalam perkembangan sosial peserta didik, terutama dalam konteks pendidikan berbasis pesantren. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh konformitas teman sebaya terhadap modal sosial peserta didik di SMP Al-Halim Garut Berbasis Pesantren. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode deskriptif, penelitian ini mengeksplorasi bentuk konformitas yang muncul, dampaknya terhadap modal sosial, serta faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi hubungan tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konformitas yang terjadi cenderung bersifat negatif dan berpotensi menghambat perkembangan sosial peserta didik. Meskipun demikian, modal sosial tetap berkembang melalui hubungan yang dilandasi oleh kepercayaan, norma, dan jaringan sosial yang kuat antaranggota kelompok. Faktor seperti keterlibatan guru dan latar belakang sosial ekonomi diketahui turut memoderasi hubungan antara konformitas dan modal sosial. Dengan demikian, konformitas teman sebaya dapat mendukung pembentukan modal sosial apabila diarahkan secara positif. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan peran aktif dari pihak sekolah dan pesantren dalam menciptakan lingkungan yang mendukung interaksi sosial yang sehat bagi peserta didik. ABSTRACT Peer conformity is a significant factor in the social development of students, particularly within the context of pesantren-based education. This study aims to analyze the influence of peer conformity on students’ social capital at SMP Al-Halim Garut, a pesantren-based school. Using a qualitative approach and descriptive method, this research explores the forms of conformity that emerge, their impact on social capital, and the factors influencing this relationship. The findings indicate that the prevailing peer conformity tends to be negative and potentially hinders students’ social development. Nevertheless, social capital continues to develop through relationships built on trust, shared norms, and strong social networks among group members. Factors such as teacher involvement and socioeconomic background moderate the relationship between peer conformity and social capital. Therefore, peer conformity can contribute to social capital formation when directed positively. Consequently, the active role of both the school and the pesantren is essential in fostering an environment that supports healthy social interaction among students.
