Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji secara mendalam dampak kondisi fatherless terhadap pertumbuhan kepercayaan diri anak usia dini di lingkungan sekolah X Kota Bandung. Istilah fatherless dalam konteks ini tidak hanya merujuk pada ketiadaan ayah secara fisik akibat perceraian atau kematian, tetapi juga pada tidak optimalnya peran ayah dalam pengasuhan, baik secara emosional maupun psikologis. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) untuk memahami makna pengalaman para partisipan secara mendalam. Lima partisipan, yaitu anak-anak usia dini dan orang tua mereka, dipilih berdasarkan kriteria tertentu yang menggambarkan kondisi fatherless. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dan observasi langsung terhadap perilaku anak di lingkungan sekolah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa anak-anak yang mengalami fatherless menunjukkan tingkat kepercayaan diri yang lebih rendah, kurang inisiatif dalam berinteraksi sosial, serta ketergantungan yang tinggi terhadap figur otoritas seperti guru. Temuan ini menunjukkan adanya ketimpangan dalam pola pengasuhan, yang diperkuat oleh nilai-nilai patriarki yang menganggap pengasuhan anak sebagai tanggung jawab utama ibu. Penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya peran aktif ayah dalam membentuk rasa percaya diri anak melalui keterlibatan emosional dan sosial yang konsisten. Diharapkan hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi referensi dalam pengembangan pola pengasuhan yang lebih seimbang serta meningkatkan kesadaran keluarga dan masyarakat tentang pentingnya kehadiran figur ayah dalam mendukung perkembangan sosial-emosional anak usia dini.--------This study aims to explore in depth the impact of fatherlessness on the development of self-confidence in early childhood at School X in Bandung. In this context, the term fatherless does not only refer to the physical absence of a father due to divorce or death but also to the suboptimal involvement of a father in parenting, both emotionally and psychologically. The research employed a qualitative approach using the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) method to understand the personal and subjective experiences of the participants. Five participants young children and their parents were selected based on specific criteria reflecting the condition of fatherlessness. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and direct observation of children's behavior within the school environment. The findings revealed that children experiencing fatherlessness tend to exhibit lower levels of self-confidence, a lack of initiative in social interactions, and a strong dependence on authority figures such as teachers. The findings indicate a significant imbalance in parenting roles, reinforced by patriarchal values that place the burden of child-rearing primarily on mothers. This study highlights the importance of active paternal involvement in shaping children's self-confidence through consistent emotional and social engagement. The results are expected to serve as a reference for developing more balanced parenting practices and to raise awareness among families and communities about the essential role of fathers in supporting the socio-emotional development of early childhood.
