Abstract
Kemampuan literasi matematis siswa Indonesia masih tergolong rendah, sebagaimana tercermin dari hasil PISA yang menunjukkan keterbatasan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal non rutin berbasis konteks. Daya juang produktif siswa diduga berperan dalam proses literasi matematis siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis proses literasi matematis siswa SMP berdasarkan daya juang produktif dalam menyelesaikan soal setara PISA pada topik Teorema Pythagoras. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus, penelitian ini mengkaji proses literasi matematis yang meliputi merumuskan, menggunakan, dan menafsirkan konsep matematika. Subjek penelitian dipilih secara purposive sampling berdasarkan kategori daya juang produktif (rendah, sedang, tinggi). Data dikumpulkan melalui tes literasi matematis, angket daya juang produktif, wawancara mendalam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa dengan daya juang produktif tinggi cenderung memiliki kemampuan literasi matematis yang lebih baik, khususnya dalam merumuskan masalah secara matematis dan menerapkan konsep Teorema Pythagoras. Namun, proses menafsirkan hasil matematis sering menjadi kendala, bahkan pada siswa dengan daya juang produktif tinggi. Siswa dengan daya juang produktif sedang menunjukkan kemampuan yang beragam, sementara siswa dengan daya juang produktif rendah sering mengalami kesulitan di semua proses literasi matematis. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan desain bahan ajar berbasis pendekatan kontekstual untuk meningkatkan daya juang produktif dan kemampuan literasi matematis siswa, dengan fokus pada latihan representasi visual, pemahaman konsep dasar, dan soal setara PISA. Temuan ini memberikan wawasan baru bagi pendidik dalam merancang pembelajaran yang mendukung pengembangan literasi matematis siswa. The mathematical literacy skills of Indonesian students remain relatively low, as reflected in PISA results, which indicate students' limitations in solving non-routine, context-based problems. Productive struggle is presumed to play a significant role in the mathematical literacy process. This study aims to analyze the mathematical literacy process of middle school students in terms of productive struggle in solving PISA-like problems on the Pythagorean Theorem. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design and examines the processes of formulating, applying, and interpreting mathematical concepts. Participants were selected through purposive sampling based on their productive struggle levels (low, medium, high). Data were collected through mathematical literacy tests, productive struggle questionnaires, and in-depth interviews. The findings revealed that students with high productive struggle levels demonstrated better mathematical literacy skills, particularly in formulating problems mathematically and applying the Pythagorean Theorem. However, interpreting mathematical results remained challenging, even for students with highly productive struggles. Students with medium productive struggle levels showed varying abilities, while those with low productive struggle levels often struggled across all mathematical literacy processes. This study recommends designing contextual teaching materials to enhance students' productive struggle and mathematical literacy skills, emphasizing visual representation exercises, foundational concept understanding, and PISA-like problems. These findings provide new insights for educators in designing instruction that supports the development of students' mathematical literacy.
