Abstract

Fenomena Korean wave atau Hallyu telah mengubah cara pandang masyarakat terhadap budaya Korea, mendorong minat yang tinggi untuk mempelajari bahasa Korea di kalangan generasi muda. Banyak mahasiswa non bahasa yang terinspirasi oleh musik K-pop, drama, dan film Korea, sehingga mereka berusaha untuk belajar bahasa Korea secara informal meskipun tidak memiliki latar belakang pendidikan bahasa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi motivasi dan strategi belajar bahasa Korea secara informal di kalangan mahasiswa non bahasa di Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif eksploratif melalui wawancara mendalam dengan empat mahasiswa non bahasa di Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia yang mempelajari bahasa Korea secara informal. Proses analisis menggunakan teknik pengodean open coding dan axial coding. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa motivasi belajar bahasa Korea dipengaruhi oleh faktor-faktor seperti minat pribadi, tujuan akademis, dan pengaruh sosial menjadi pendorong utama dalam mempelajari bahasa Korea. Selain itu, penelitian ini mengidentifikasi berbagai strategi belajar yang digunakan, termasuk strategi memori, afektif, sosial, kognitif, belajar mandiri melalui media digital, dan berpartisipasi dalam komunitas bahasa. Kesimpulan hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa motivasi intrinsik lebih dominan dibandingkan motivasi ekstrinsik, strategi belajar yang dipakai oleh mahasiswa non bahasa merupakan strategi sosial, kognitif dan afektif. Serta adanya keterkaitan antara motivasi dan strategi belajar mahasiswa non bahasa dalam mempelajari bahasa Korea secara informal. The Korean wave or Hallyu has influenced young people to learn Korean language, not the exception of university students whose major is other than language. They are mainly inspired by K-pop music, Korean dramas, and movies, learning Korean language autonomously. This study aims to explore motivation and strategies for learning Korean informally among non-language students at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. This research employed an explorative qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with four non-language students who studied Korean informally. The analysis process included open coding and axial coding techniques to generate themes of responses to address the research questions. The results of the analysis show that motivation to learn Korean is influenced by several factors, such as personal interest, academic goals, and social influence. In addition to that, this study captures various learning strategies used to learn Korean language informally, including strategies memory, affective, social, cognitive incorporating digital media to access the learning materials, and participating in Korean language communities. The conclusion shows that intrinsic motivation is more dominant than extrinsic motivation, the learning strategies used by non-language students are social, cognitive and affective strategies. And there is a relationship between motivation and learning strategies of non-language students in learning Korean informally. 전세계에서 펴져 있는 한류는 한국 문화의 인식을 증상시키며 한국어를 배우게 하는 역할을 한다. 본 연구는 인도네시아교육대학교에서 비언어권 전공자들 사이에서 스스로 한국어를 배우는 동기와 전략을 탐구하는 데 목적을 둔다. 본 연구는 참가자들이한국어 학습 과정에 사용하는 전략과 학습 동기 부여에 영향을 미치는 요인을이해하는 것이 중요하다고 생각한다. 사용된 방법은 비공식적으로 한국어를 공부한 인도네시아 교육 대학교의 비언어권 학생 4명과 심층 인터뷰를 통한 탐색적 질적 접근 방식있다. 분석 과정은 오픈 코딩 및 축 코딩 기법을 사용했다. 국어 학습 동기는 개인적 흥미, 학문적 목표, 사회적 영향 등 요인에 의해 영향을 받는다는 결과가 나왔다. 또한 본 연구는 기억력, 정서적, 사회적, 인지적, 디지털 미디어를 통한 자기 학습, 언어 공동체 참여 등 활용되는 다양한 학습 전략을사용하는 것으로 보였다. 이번 연구 결과는 따르면 비언어 학생들이 사용하는 학습 전략은 사회적, 인지적, 정서적 전략이며, 내재적 동기가 외재적 동기보다 더 지배적인 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 비언어 학생들이 한국어를 비공식적으로 학습하는 데 있어 동기와 학습 전략 사이에는 관계가 있다.
