Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh permasalahan yang ditemukan peneliti dalam kegiatan pembelajaran di kelas 8.4 SMP Negeri 15 Bandung ketika proses observasi pra pembelajaran. Yaitu kurangnya sikap toleransi yang dimiliki siswa di kelas tersebut, yang pada akhirnya cukup berpengaruh terhadap kondisi dan situasi pembelajaran. Berbekal permasalahan tersebut, akhirnya peneliti melakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk menanamkan sikap toleransi pada siswa kelas 8.4, yaitu melalui penerapan model pembelajaran Controversial Issues pada mata pelajaran PPKn dengan menggunakan isu kontroversial mengenai toleransi di lingkungan sekolah, keluarga, dan masyarakat untuk dijadikan topik diskusi. Peneliti merasa bahwa hal ini penting untuk dilakukan, karena dengan memiliki sikap toleransi, akan terbentuk sikap menghargai dan menghormati dalam diri siswa, serta terbiasa dengan adanya perbedaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang terdiri dari 3 siklus dimana terjadi peningkatan pada setiap siklusnya. Pada penilaian observasi sikap toleransi mendapatkan skor 75,12% dengan kategori “Baik”, Pada penilaian Kognitif mendapatkan nilai rata akhir 80,64 dengan kategori “Sangat Baik”, dan pada penilaian diri sikap toleransi mendapatkan nilai akhir 91,55% dengan kategori “Tinggi. Berbagai peningkatan yang diperoleh tersebut menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran Controversial Issues dapat dijadikan sarana untuk menanamkan sikap toleransi pada siswa. This study is motivated by problems which researchers found in learning activities in class 8.4 of SMP Negeri 15 Bandung during the pre-learning observation process. Its problem is the lack of tolerance possessed by students which in the end has quite an impact on the learning conditions and situations. Therefore, the researcher finally conducts study which aims to instill an attitude of tolerance in class 8.4 students that is through the implementation of the Controversial Issues learning model in Civic (PPKn) subjects by using controversial issues regarding tolerance in the school, family and community environment to be used as discussion topics. Researcher believe that it is important to do since by having an attitude of tolerance, an attitude of appreciation and respect will be formed in students, and they will be accustomed to differences. Furthermore, this study used the Classroom Action Research (PTK) method which consists of 3 cycles where there is an increase in each cycle. In the observation assessment, the tolerance attitude gets a score of 75.12% in the "Good" category, in the Cognitive assessment the final average score is 80.64 in the "Very Good" category, and in the self-assessment the tolerance attitude obtains a final score of 91.55% in the category "high". The various improvements obtained show that the Controversial Issues learning model can be used as a means to instill an attitude of tolerance in students.
