Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji pengaruh Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) terhadap motivasi belajar siswa SMK Negeri 5 Bandung, dengan fokus pada program Desain Pemodelan dan Informasi Bangunan (DPIB). Tujuan utama penelitian adalah untuk menganalisis tingkat FoMO di kalangan siswa, mengukur motivasi belajar siswa, dan menentukan seberapa besar FoMO mempengaruhi motivasi belajar. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh maraknya penggunaan platform media sosial di kalangan pelajar dan kemungkinan pengaruhnya terhadap aktivitas pembelajaran mereka. Menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode asosiatif, penelitian ini melibatkan 121 siswa sebagai sampel yang dipilih melalui teknik sample random sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner dan dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan regresi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat FoMO di kalangan siswa berada pada kategori "Cukup Tinggi" dengan skor rata-rata 70,18%, sementara motivasi belajar siswa tergolong "Cukup Baik" dengan skor 74,18%. Analisis korelasi mengungkapkan adanya pengaruh positif yang signifikan antara FoMO dan motivasi belajar, dengan koefisien determinasi sebesar 68,1%. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa semakin tinggi tingkat FoMO, semakin tinggi pula motivasi belajar siswa. Penelitian ini memberikan wawasan baru tentang dinamika FoMO dalam konteks pendidikan kejuruan dan menyoroti pentingnya strategi pembelajaran yang dapat memanfaatkan aspek positif FoMO sambil meminimalkan dampak negatifnya terhadap kesejahteraan psikologis siswa. Penelitian ini berkontribusi pada pemahaman yang lebih mendalam tentang interaksi fenomena terkait media sosial dengan hasil pendidikan di lingkungan kejuruan. Implikasi penelitian ini menekankan perlunya pendidik dan pembuat kebijakan mempertimbangkan faktor-faktor era digital dalam merancang kurikulum dan metodologi pengajaran. This research examines the influence of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) on students' learning motivation at State Vocational School 5 Bandung, focusing on the Building Information Modeling and Design (DPIB) program. The study is motivated by the widespread use of social media platforms among students and its potential impact on their learning activities. The main objectives of the research are to analyze the level of FoMO among students, measure students' learning motivation, and determine the extent to which FoMO affects learning motivation. Using a quantitative approach with a associative method, this study involved 121 students as a sample selected through simple random sampling technique. Data was collected through questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics and regression. The results show that the level of FoMO among students falls into the "Fairly Good" category with an average score of 70.18%, while students' learning motivation is also classified as "Fairly Good" with a score of 74.18%. Correlation analysis reveals a significant positive influence between FoMO and learning motivation, with a determination coefficient of 68.1%. These findings indicate that higher levels of FoMO correspond to increased learning motivation among students. This research provides new insights into the dynamics of FoMO within the context of vocational education and highlights the importance of learning strategies that can harness the positive aspects of FoMO while minimizing its negative impact on students' psychological well-being. The study contributes to a deeper understanding of the interaction between social media-related phenomena and educational outcomes in vocational settings.
