Abstract
Pendidikan sebagai tempat belajar siswa perlu membentuk peserta didik ideal yang menguasai keterampilan abad ke-21, salah satunya keterampilan berpikir kritis. Namun, data di lapangan mengungkapkan bahwa keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa Indonesia masih rendah. Hal ini dapat terlihat dari rata-rata hasil ulangan peserta didik yang masih berada di bawah Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimum (KKM). Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh model pembelajaran discovery learning terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada materi suhu dan pemuaian. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif yang menggunakan metode penelitian pre-eksperimental one group pretest-postest design. Partisipan berjumlah 34 peserta didik kelas XI SMA Negeri Kota Bandung, dengan instrumen yang digunakan yaitu lembar observasi, instrumen tes 10 butir soal uraian dan angket respon. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah uji N-Gain untuk mengetahui peningkatan aspek keterampilan berpikir kritis, uji Wilcoxon untuk mengetahui perbedaan rata-rata pretest dan posttest, serta effect size untuk mengetahui seberapa besar pengaruh model discovery learning terhadap peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran menggunakan model discovery learning terlaksana sangat baik dengan persentase 96,67%, terdapat peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis sebesar 0,64 dengan kategori sedang, dan adanya perbedaan nilai rata-rata antara pretest dan posttest. Besar pengaruh pembelajaran ini diperoleh 2,849 melalui perhitungan Cohen’s d. Selain itu, pembelajaran mendapatkan respon positif dari peserta didik. Dengan demikian, pembelajaran discovery learning berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada materi suhu dan pemuaian. Education as a place for students to learn needs to form ideal students who master 21st century skills, one of which is critical thinking skills. However, data in the field reveals that the critical thinking skills of Indonesian students are still low. This can be seen from the average results of student tests which are still below the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM). Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effect of the discovery learning learning model on students' critical thinking skills on the material of temperature and expansion. This study is a quantitative study using the pre-experimental one group pretest-posttest design research method. Participants were 34 students of class XI of SMA Negeri Kota Bandung, with the instruments used being observation sheets, 10 essay test items and response questionnaires. The analysis techniques used were the N-Gain test to determine the increase in aspects of critical thinking skills, the Wilcoxon test to determine the difference in the average pretest and posttest, and the effect size to determine how much influence the discovery learning model has on improving students' critical thinking skills. The results of this study indicate that learning using the discovery learning model was carried out very well with a percentage of 96.67%, there was an increase in critical thinking skills of 0.64 with a moderate category, and there was a difference in the average value between the pretest and posttest. The magnitude of the influence of this learning was obtained 2.849 through Cohen's d calculation. In addition, learning received a positive response from students. Thus, discovery learning has an effect on improving students' critical thinking skills on the material of temperature and expansion.
