Abstract

Masalah penelitian ini disebabkan oleh kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa sekolah dasar yang masih rendah, siswa merasa kesulitan saat memahami materi yang diajarkan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh dan peningkatan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa di sekolah dasar. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan quasi experiment dengan model nonequivalent control group design. Sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik purpossive sampling, dengan dua kelas sebagai sampel. Untuk kelas eksperimen yaitu kelas VB mendapatkan treatment model Problem Based Learning (PBL) sedangkan kelas VA mendapatkan treatment model konvensional yaitu model Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL). Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu berupa soal uraian yang berjumlah empat soal untuk mengukur kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa kelas VB yang menggunakan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) mendapatkan hasil yang lebih baik dibandingkan siswa kelas VA yang menggunakan model konvensional. Adapun model Problem Based Learning (PBL) berpengaruh sebesar 68,2% terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Melihat dari hasil yang diperoleh, model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif pada kegiatan belajar mengajar di kelas agar pembelajaran yang dilakukan menjadi lebih aktif dan melatih kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. ----- This research problem is caused by the low mathematical problem-solving ability of elementary school students, students find it difficult to understand the material taught. The purpose of this study is to determine the influence and improvement of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on students' mathematical problem-solving ability in elementary school. This type of research uses a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent control group design model. The sample in this study uses a purpossive sampling technique, with two classes as samples. For the experimental class, namely the VB class, the Problem Based Learning (PBL) treatment model while the VA class received the conventional treatment model, namely the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model. The instrument used in this study is in the form of four descriptive questions to measure students' mathematical problem-solving skills. The results showed that the improvement of mathematical problem-solving skills of VB class students who used the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model got better results than VA class students who used the conventional model. The Problem Based Learning (PBL) model has an effect of 68.2% on students' mathematical problem-solving skills. Judging from the results obtained, the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model can be used as an alternative to teaching and learning activities in the classroom so that the learning carried out becomes more active and trains students' mathematical problem-solving skills.
