Abstract

Metode English folktale storytelling siswa tidak hanya akan mencapai pemahaman bahasa saja namun sekaligus pemahaman terhadap nilai-nilai budaya lokal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis apakah penerapan metode English folktale storytelling dapat meningkatkan pemahaman bahasa Inggris dan nilai budaya siswa kelas V SD, serta mengidentifikasi perbedaan pemahaman nilai budaya antara siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dengan metode English folktale storytelling dengan yang mengikuti pembelajaran English folktale dengan teks cerita/bacaan. Pendekatan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan jenis kuasi eksperimen dan the matching-only pre-test-post-test control group design. Adapun populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas V SD Ar Rafi’ Drajat dan kelas V SD Juara Bandung tahun pelajaran 2024/2025. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari kelas V Zubair SD Ar Rafi’ Drajat sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas V A SD Juara Bandung sebagai kelas kontrol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara statistik, pembelajaran dengan metode English folktale storytelling tidak terdapat pengaruh terhadap pemahaman bahasa Inggris dan nilai budaya siswa kelas V SD. Kemudian, terdapat perbedaan terkait pemahaman nilai budaya antara siswa masing-masing kelas, yang dibuktikan dengan perbedaan skor pre-test dan post-test kedua kelas. ------------- English folktale storytelling method, students will not only achieve language comprehension but also an understanding of local cultural values. This study aims to analyze whether the implementation of the English folktale storytelling method can enhance the English comprehension and cultural values of Grade V elementary school students, as well as to identify differences in cultural value understanding between students who follow English learning using the English folktale storytelling method and those who follow English folktale learning through reading texts. The approach in this research is quantitative, with a quasi-experimental type and the matching-only pre-test-post-test control group design. The population of this study includes Grade V students of SD Ar Rafi' Drajat and Grade V students of SD Juara Bandung in the 2024/2025 academic year. The research sample consists of Grade V Zubair at SD Ar Rafi' Drajat as the experimental class and Grade V A at SD Juara Bandung as the control class. The results of the study show that statistically, learning using the English folktale storytelling method does not have an effect on the English comprehension and cultural values of Grade V elementary school students. Additionally, there are differences in cultural value understanding between students in each class, as evidenced by the differences in pre-test and post-test scores of the two classes.
