Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi rendahnya kemampuan membaca pemahaman pada siswa yang disebabkan kurangnya kemampuan siswa dalam menulis gagasan utama, menangkap arti ungkapan, memahami isi bacaan, menemukan informasi bacaan, menentukan fakta dan opini, serta menarik kesimpulan. Hal ini memerlukan adanya perbaikan dalam penerapan metode pembelajaran di kelas V sekolah dasar. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh metode close reading terhadap kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas V sekolah dasar pada materi peristiwa dalam kehidupan. Metode penelitian yakni quasi eksperiment dengan desain penelitian the matching only pretest posttest control group design. Sampel dalam penelitian yakni siswa kelas V-A dan kelas V-B di SDN 2 Karangtengah, Kabupaten Cirebon. Hasil analisis data posttest di kelas eksperimen (kelas V-A) menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh metode close reading terhadap kemampuan membaca pemahaman pada materi peristiwa dalam kehidupan. Nilai rata-rata pretest kemampuan membaca pemahaman kelas eksperimen yaitu, sebesar 66, sedangkan nilai rata-rata pretest kemampuan membaca pemahaman kelas kontrol (kelas V-B), yaitu sebesar 51. Sementara itu, nilai rata-rata posttest kemampuan membaca pemahaman kelas eksperimen yaitu sebesar 84, sedangkan nilai rata-rata posttest kemampuan membaca pemahaman kelas kontrol dengan membaca mandiri sebesar 56,3. Berdasarkan analisis data pretest dan posttest diperoleh nilai signifikansi sebesar .069 pada kelas eksperimen dan nilai signifikansi sebesar .014 pada kelas kontrol yang berarti terdapat perbedaan pengaruh yang signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Nilai rata-rata posttest kemampuan membaca pemahaman kelas eksperimen yaitu sebesar 84 sedangkan nilai rata-rata posttest kemampuan membaca pemahaman kelas kontrol sebesar 56,3. ------- This research is motivated by the low reading comprehension skills of students due to the lack of students' ability to write main ideas, capture the meaning of expressions, understand the content of reading, find reading information, determine facts and opinions, and draw conclusions. This requires improvement in the application of learning methods in grade V elementary school. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of close reading method on reading comprehension skills of grade V elementary school students on the material of events in life. The research method is quasi-experiment with the research design of the matching only pretest posttest control group design. The samples in the study were students of class V-A and class V-B at SDN 2 Karangtengah, Cirebon Regency. The results of posttest data analysis in the experimental class (class V-A) showed that there was an effect of the close reading method on reading comprehension skills on the material of events in life. The mean value of the pretest of reading comprehension ability of the experimental class is 66, while the mean value of the pretest of reading comprehension ability of the control class (class V-B) is 51. Meanwhile, the mean value of the posttest of reading comprehension ability of the experimental class is 84, while the mean value of the posttest of reading comprehension ability of the control class with independent reading is 56.3. Based on the analysis of pretest and posttest data, the significance value of .069 in the experimental class and the significance value of .014 in the control class means that there is a significant difference in influence between the experimental class and the control class. The average posttest score of reading comprehension ability of the experimental class is 84 while the average posttest score of reading comprehension ability of the control class is 56.3.
