Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah IPA siswa. Hal ini dikarenakan pembelajaran belum berpusat pada siswa. Berdasarkan fenomena tersebut, peneliti menggunakan metode pembelajaran Problem Based Learning untuk mengatasinya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan metode pembelajaran Problem Based Learning untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah IPA siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu penelitian tindakan kelas dengan model Kemmis dan MC Taggart yang terdiri dari siklus. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar yang berjumlah 21 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah berupa observasi, penilaian tes dan wawancara. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian pada siklus I dengan menggunakan metode pembelajaran Problem Based Learning siswa mampu memperoleh nilai rata-rata kemampuan pemecahan masalah IPA sebesar 64,04 atau berada dalam kategori kurang. Pada siklus II, kemampuan pemecahan masalah IPA meningkat dengan rata-rata 80,71 atau berada dalam kategori baik. Artinya sudah mencapai indikator keberhasilan yang ditetapkan. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode pembelajaran Problem Based Learning dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah IPA siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar. This research was motivated by the low ability of students to solve science problems. This is because learning is not yet student-centered. Based on this phenomenon, researchers used the Problem Based Learning learning method to overcome it. This research aims to describe the application of the Problem Based Learning method to improve the science problem solving abilities of fourth grade elementary school students. The method used in this research is classroom action research using the Kemmis and MC Taggart model which consists of cycles. The subjects of this research were 21 fourth grade elementary school students. The data collection techniques used are observation, test assessment and interviews. Based on the results of research in cycle I using the Problem Based Learning learning method, students were able to obtain an average score for science problem solving ability of 64.04 or in the poor category. In cycle II, science problem solving abilities increased with an average of 80.71 or were in the good category. This means that the specified success indicators have been achieved. Thus, it can be concluded that the Problem Based Learning learning method can improve the science problem solving abilities of fourth grade elementary school students.
