Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesulitan membaca permulaan pada siswa fase A di SD Meleber Utara, Kota Bandung. Kesulitan membaca permulaan yang sering dihadapi siswa tahap awal pembelajaran, dapat mempengaruhi kemampuan akademik dan perkembangan belajar mereka di masa mendatang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus untuk mendapatkan gambaran mendalam mengenai kesulitan dihadapi siswa dalam membaca permulaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ketiga siswa kelas 1 mengalami kesulitan mengidentifikasi huruf secara visual dan masih bergantung pada bantuan fisik seperti telunjuk dan gerakan bibir. Selain itu, mereka mengalami kesulitan dalam menggabungkan huruf menjadi suku kata, kata, dan kalimat sederhana, serta memahami kata dengan struktur fonetik yang kompleks seperti kata dengan dua huruf vokal rangkap dan konsonan rangkap. Kesulitan membaca dipengaruhi oleh faktor fisiologis, intelektual, lingkungan, dan psikologis. Upaya mengatasi hambatan ini adalah memotivasi siswa, penggunaan media membaca yang menarik, mendorong kegiatan pembiasaan membaca, melakukan diskusi antara guru dan orang tua, menetapkan standar dan target capaian baca, menggunakan pembelajaran yang berdiferensiasi dan pengadaan kelas baca di luar mata pelajaran. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan wawasan yang bermanfaat bagi pendidik dan orang tua dalam memahami dan mengatasi kesulitan membaca permulaan, serta meningkatkan kemampuan membaca siswa melalui pendekatan yang lebih efektif dan kolaboratif. This study analyzes the difficulties of early reading in phase A students at Meleber Utara Elementary School, Bandung City. Early reading difficulties that are often faced by students in the early stages of learning, can affect their academic abilities and learning development in the future. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method to get an in-depth picture of the difficulties faced by students in early reading. The results showed that the three grade 1 students had trouble identifying letters visually and still relied on physical assistance such as pointing and lip movements. In addition, they have difficulties in combining letters into syllables, words, and simple sentences, as well as understanding words with complex phonetic structures such as words with two letters double vowels, and double consonants. Reading difficulties are influenced by physiological, intellectual, environmental, and psychological factors. Efforts to overcome these obstacles are motivating students, using interesting reading media, encouraging reading habituation activities, conducting discussions between teachers and parents, setting standards and targets for reading achievement, using differentiated learning, and providing reading classes outside of subjects. This research is expected to provide useful insights for educators and parents in understanding and overcoming early reading difficulties and improve students' reading skills through a more effective and collaborative approach.
