Abstract

Membaca permulaan adalah keterampilan penting dikuasi oleh siswa sejak dini, karena membaca permulaan ini suatu bekal yang berharga dalam proses pembelajaran. Setelah membaca permulaan siswa akan melakukan proses membaca lanjutan, saat membaca permulaan mengalami keterlambatan akan berpengaruh dalam membaca lanjutan. Kenyataan di lapangan menunjukkan siswa sekolah dasar belum memiliki kemampuan membaca permulaan yang diharapkan. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh metode Reading Aloud berbantuan Big Book terhadap kemampuan membaca permulaan kelas I siswa sekolah dasar, serta mengetahui apakah terdapat peningkatan kelas eksperimen lebih baik dibandingkan siswa kelas kontrol. Jenis penilitian quasi experiment desain nonequivalent control grup. Subjek penelitian sebanyak 52 siswa. Hasil analisi menunjukkan pengaruh metode Reading Aloud berbantuan Big Book terhadap kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa kelas I sebesar 77,4%. Artinya siswa yang mendapat metode Reading Aloud berbantuan Big Book lebih baik dibandingkan siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran dengan metode Abjad/Eja. ----- Early reading is an important skill for students to master from an early age, because beginning reading is a valuable provision in the learning process. After reading the beginning, students will carry out the process of continuing reading, when they experience delays in reading the early, this will affect their further reading. The reality on the ground shows that elementary school students do not yet have the expected initial reading skills. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of the Big Book-assisted Reading Aloud method on elementary school students' initial reading ability in grade I, as well as to find out whether there is an improvement in the experimental class compared to control class students. This type of research is a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design. The research subjects were 52 students. The results of the analysis show that the influence of the Reading Aloud method assisted by Big Book on the beginning reading ability of class I students is 77.4%. This means that students who receive the Reading Aloud method assisted by Big Book are better than students who receive learning using the Alphabet/Spell method.
