Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya hasil belajar siswa yang disebabkan oleh penggunaan model pembelajaran yang oleh guru yang didominasi oleh model pembelajaran konvensional. Model pembelajaran Introduction, Connect, Apply, Reflect and Extend (ICARE) diharapkan dapat dijadikan solusi dari permasalahan tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran ICARE terhadap hasil belajar kognitif IPAS peserta didik di sekolah dasar dan untuk mengetahui peningkatan hasil belajar kognitif IPAS peserta didik yang mendapatkan model pembelajaran ICARE dibandingkan dengan siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan model pembelajaran konvensional. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian jenis quasi eksperimen dengan bentuk non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group design. Sampel dalam penelitian ini yakni siswa kelas IVA dan IV B pada salah satu Sekolah Dasar Negeri di Kabupaten Purwakarta. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan berbentuk soal pilihan ganda dan soal esai serta dokumentasi. Instrumen tes hasil belajar siswa digunakan untuk memperoleh data kuantitatif pretest dan posttest siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa: 1) Terdapat pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran ICARE terhadap hasil belajar kognitif IPAS peserta didik disekolah dasar dilihat dari hasil uji regresi linear sederhana sebesar 46,2%; 2) Peningkatan hasil belajar kognitif IPAS peserta didik yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan model pembelajaran ICARE lebih baik dibandingkan dengan peserta didik yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan model pembelajaran konvensional. Dengan demikian model pembelajaran ICARE direkomendasikan oleh penulis sebagai alternatif pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif IPAS di Sekolah Dasar. ----- This research is motivated by the low student learning outcomes caused by the predominant use of conventional teaching models by teachers. The Introduction, Connect, Apply, Reflect, and Extend (ICARE) learning model is expected to address this issue. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of applying the ICARE learning model on the cognitive learning outcomes of elementary school students, and to compare the improvement in cognitive learning outcomes between students who receive the ICARE learning model and those who receive conventional teaching.This study employs a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group. The sample consists of students in grades IVA and IV B at a State Elementary School in Purwakarta Regency. Research instruments include multiple-choice and essay questions, as well as documentation. Student learning outcome test instruments are used to gather quantitative data from pretests and posttests.The results of the study showed that: 1) There was a significant effect of applying the ICARE learning model on the cognitive learning outcomes of science students in elementary school, with a 46.2% improvement observed based on the results of a simple linear regression test; 2) The improvement in cognitive learning outcomes in IPAS for students who received instruction with the ICARE learning model was better compared to students who received conventional teaching. Thus, the ICARE learning model is recommended by the author as an alternative approach to improving cognitive learning outcomes in IPAS for elementary school students.
