Abstract
Kemampuan komunikasi matematis penting dikuasai oleh peserta didik dalam pembelajaran matematika karena membantu peserta didik dalam mengungkapkan ide dan pengetahuan matematika baik secara lisan atau tulisan. Penelitian ini hanya berfokus pada kemampuan komunikasi matematis peserta didik dalam menyampaikan ide atau gagasan matematika ke dalam bentuk tulisan. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan komunikasi matematis peserta didik yang ditunjukkan dengan kesulitan peserta didik dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita yang berkaitan dengan masalah sehari-hari dan menyimpulkan hasil penyelesaiannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: 1) kemampuan komunikasi matematis peserta didik sebelum diterapkan model pembelajaran PBL; 2) kemampuan komunikasi matematis peserta didik setelah diterapkan model pembelajaran PBL; 3) tingkat efektivitas model pembelajaran PBL dalam meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis peserta didik. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu penelitian kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian pre-experimental tipe one group pretest-posttest. Sampel penelitian adalah peserta didik fase B kelas IV di salah satu SD di Indramayu yang berjumlah 38 peserta didik. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diperoleh kesimpulan: 1) nilai rata-rata hasil pretest kemampuan komunikasi matematis peserta didik sebelum diterapkan model pembelajaran PBL berada pada kategori sangat kurang; 2) nilai rata-rata hasil posttest kemampuan komunikasi matematis peserta didik setelah diterapkan model pembelajaran PBL berada pada kategori cukup; 3) model pembelajaran PBL efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis peserta didik. Mathematical communication skills are important to be mastered by students in mathematics learning because they help students in expressing mathematical ideas and knowledge either verbally or in writing. This research only focuses on students' mathematical communication skills in conveying mathematical ideas or ideas into written form. This research is motivated by the low mathematical communication skills of students which are shown by the difficulty of students in solving story problems related to daily problems and concluding the results of their completion. This research aims to find out: 1) students' mathematical communication skills before the PBL learning model is applied; 2) students' mathematical communication skills after the PBL learning model is applied; 3) the effectiveness level of the PBL learning model in improving students' mathematical communication skills. The method used in this research is quantitative research with the type of pre-experimental type one group pretest-posttest research. The research sample is the students of phase B class IV at one of the elementary schools in Indramayu which numbered 38 students. Based on the research results, the conclusion was obtained: 1) the average score of the pretest results of students' mathematical communication skills before the PBL learning model was applied was in a very less category; 2) the average score of the posttest results of students' mathematical communication skills after the PBL learning model was applied was in sufficient categories; 3) the PBL learning model was effective in improving students' mathematical communication skills.
