    Abstract

    Penelitian yang dilakukan didasarkan oleh latar belakang rendahnya minat peserta
    didik di kelas VII H SMPN 27 Bandung terhadap pembelajaran IPS, ini
    disebabkan karena bagi mereka pembelajaran IPS merupakan pelajaran yang
    menuntut banyak hafalan sehingga membuat mereka cenderung malas mengikuti
    pembelajaran IPS. Hal ini berdampak pada kurangnya pemahaman peserta didik
    yang dapat mempengaruhi hasil belajar peserta didik. Dengan adanya
    permasalahan tersebut, peneliti memiliki tujuan untuk menggunakan model
    mnemonik. Model mnemonik adalah model pembelajaran yang memudahkan
    menghafalkan sesuatu dengan bantuan yang salah satunya berupa singkatan
    sehingga dapat membantu peserta didik dalam menghafal materi pelajaran dan
    juga menumbuhkan minat peserta didik terhadap pembelajaran IPS. Dengan
    begitu, pada penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan
    kelas (PTK) dengan desain Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart yang pada pelaksanaanya
    meliputi empat langkah yaitu; perencanaan (Plan); pelaksanaan (Act); pengamatan
    (Observing); dan refleksi (reflection). Penelitian ini dilakukan di kelas VII H
    SMPN 27 Bandung sebanyak III siklus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa
    pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model mnemonik dapat meningkatkan hasil
    belajar IPS serta mempermudah peserta didik dalam menghafalkan materi dalam
    IPS. Adapun hasil belajar peserta didik pada siklus I diperoleh persentase
    ketuntasan belajar peserta didik sebesar 35,29%. Pada siklus II diperoleh
    persentasi ketuntasan belajar peserta didik sebesar 55,88%, sedangkan pada siklus
    III diperoleh persentasi ketuntasan belajar peserta didik sebesar 79,41%, dan pada
    uji kompetensi diperoleh persentasi ketuntasan belajar peserta didik sebesar
    85,29%, ini mendakan bahwa dengan penerapan model pembelajaran mnemonik
    dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar IPS.

    The research conducted was based on the background of the low interest of
    students in class VII H of SMPN 27 Bandung towards learning social studies, this
    was because for them learning social studies was a lesson that required a lot of
    memorization, making them tend to be lazy about participating in social studies
    learning. This has an impact on students' lack of understanding which can affect
    student learning outcomes. Given these problems, researchers aim to use
    mnemonic models. The mnemonic model is a learning model that makes it easier
    to memorize things with the help of abbreviations, so that it can help students
    memorize lesson material and also foster students' interest in social studies
    learning. Thus, in this research, researchers used the classroom action research
    (PTK) method with the Kemmis and Mc design. Taggart, whose implementation
    includes four steps, namely; planning (Plan); implementation (Act); observation
    (Observing); and reflection. This research was conducted in class VII H of SMPN
    27 Bandung for the third cycle. The research results show that learning using the
    mnemonic model can improve social studies learning outcomes and make it easier
    for students to memorize material in social studies. The student learning outcomes
    in cycle I obtained a percentage of student learning completeness of 35.29%. In
    cycle II, the percentage of students' learning completeness was 55.88%, while in
    cycle III, the percentage of students' learning completeness was 79.41%, and in
    the competency test, the percentage of students' learning completeness was
    85.29%, this indicates that Applying the mnemonic learning model can improve
    social studies learning outcomes.
