Abstract

Kompetensi abad 21 sangat penting dimiliki oleh setiap orang sebagai kemampuan untuk bertahan hidup di era globalisasi. Disinilah pentingnya pendidikan dalam mempersiapkan peserta didik sehingga mampu beradaptasi terhadap perkembangan zaman. Namun, pendidikan di Indonesia dinilai belum sempurna. Peristiwa ini menjadi perhatian peneliti untuk membuat guru memiliki kemampuan mendidik berdasarkan kompetensi abad 21. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan permainan simulasi mengajar, Teaching Simulator, untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan calon guru dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Metode yang digunakan adalah Research and Development dengan model 4D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). Hasil penelitian yang didapatkan adalah: a) Penelitian pengaruh Problem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa menggunakan kuesioner International Personality Item Pool Scales (IPIP) dan kuesioner mengukur tingkat berpikir kritis, diketahui bahwa terdapat perbedaan peningkatan berpikir kritis setiap komponen Big Five Personality pada tahapan PBL; b) Pengembangan dilakukan menggunakan metode Feature Driven Development (FDD) sebab pengembangan lebih difokuskan kepada penambahan dan pengembangan fitur; c) Uji validasi Teaching Simulator menggunakan metode Tabel Penilaian Multimedia Pembelajaran Berdasarkan Aspek Umum, Aspek Rekayasa Perangkat Lunak, dan Aspek Komunikasi Visual, diketahui bahwa aplikasi mendapat skor dengan persentase 83% pada aspek umum, 87% pada aspek Rekayasa Perangkat Lunak, 81% pada aspek Komunikasi Visual, dan 65% pada aspek simulasi sehingga aplikasi dikategorikan cukup baik dan layak untuk digunakan; dan d) Penelitian berbentuk One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design untuk menguji keefektifan aplikasi dengan mengukur perubahan pengetahuan calon guru setelah menggunakan aplikasi dan didapatkan peningkatan nilai sebanyak 17%, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa Teaching Simulator dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan calon guru dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa. 21st-century skills are essential for everyone to survive in the globalization era. Here is why the importance of education lies in preparing students to adapt to current global developments. However, education in Indonesia is not perfect. This case raised researchers’ concerns about making teachers capable of educating based on 21st-century skills. The purpose of this study is to develop a teaching simulator application to enhance the knowledge of prospective teachers in improving students' critical thinking abilities. The method used is research and development with the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The research findings are: a) This research on the effect of problem-based learning (PBL) on improving students' critical thinking skills using the International Personality Item Pool Scales (IPIP) questionnaire and a questionnaire measuring the level of critical thinking; it is known that there are differences in the critical thinking skill for each component of Big Five Personality at the PBL stage; b) The development is carried out using the Feature Driven Development (FDD) method because development focuses more on adding and developing features. c) Validation test of the Teaching Simulator using the Learning Multimedia Assessment Table method based on general aspects, software engineering aspects, and visual communication aspects. It is known that the application received a score of 83% in the general aspect and 87% in the technical aspect of the software, 81% in the field of visual communication, and 65% in the simulation aspect, so the application is considered quite good and can be used; and d) Research in the form of a one-group pretest-posttest design to test the effectiveness of the application by measuring changes in prospective teachers' knowledge after using the application and achieving an increase in scores of 17%, so it can be concluded that Teaching Simulator can improve prospective teachers' knowledge in enhancing students' critical thinking abilities.
