Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi kurangnya melatih kemampuan pemecahan masalah terhadap analisis konsep fisika sehingga mempengaruhi kemampuan kognitif siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh problem based learning berbantuan model mental dalam pembelajaran fisika terhadap kemampuan kognitif siswa. Metode yang digunakan quasi experimental design. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di salah satu SMA di Indramayu dengan pemilihan sampel secara convenience sampling yang terdiri dari 30 siswa pada kelas eksperimen dan 30 siswa pada kelas kontrol. Hasil penelitian menunjukan peningkatan kemampuan kognitif siswa kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi (N-Gain 0,360 kategori sedang) dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol (N-Gain 0,006 kategori sedang). Hasil uji hipotesis menggunakan uji mann whitney (α=0,05) dengan nilai sig (2-tailed) sebesar <0,001 sehingga diperoleh temuan adanya perbedaan yang sangat signifikan antara kedua kelas sebagai pengaruh model pembelajaran problem based learning berbantuan model mental. This research is motivated by the lack of training problem solving skills to analyze physics concepts so that it affects students' cognitive abilities. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of problem-based learning assisted by mental models in physics learning on students' cognitive abilities. The method used was quasi experimental design. This research was conducted in one of the high schools in Indramayu with convenience sampling consisting of 30 students in the experimental class and 30 students in the control class. The results showed that the increase in cognitive abilities of experimental class students was higher (N-Gain 0.360 medium category) compared to the control class (N-Gain 0.006 medium category). The results of hypothesis testing using the mann whitney test (α = 0.05) with a sig value (2-tailed) of <0.001 so that the findings showed a very significant difference between the two classes as the effect of the problem-based learning model assisted by mental models.
