Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul “Penggunaan Media Timeline Digital Untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Berpikir Kronologis Siswa dalam Pembelajaran Sejarah (Penelitian Tindakan Kelas di Kelas XI IPS 3 SMA Negeri 1 Cicalengka)”. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan yang ditemukan di kelas XI IPS 3 SMA Negeri 1 Cicalengka yaitu rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kronologis siswa dalam pembelajaran sejarah. Padahal kemampuan berpikir kronologis merupakan salah satu kemampuan dasar yang harus dimiliki oleh siswa. Adapun tujuan utama dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kronologis siswa. Indikator yang dikembangkan dalam penelitian ini merupakan hasil sintesis peneliti dengan merujuk pada ahli dan penelitian terdahulu yaitu kemampuan membaca informasi dari timeline digital; menunjukkan hubungan sebab-akibat dalam peristiwa sejarah; mengurutkan peristiwa sejarah; menjelaskan konsep kesinambungan dan perubahan. Dari indikator-indikator tersebut peneliti mengembangkan lagi sub indikatornya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas dan dilaksanakan dalam 4 siklus. Desain penelitian ini menggunakan model Kemmis dan McTaggart yang tahapannya terdiri atas perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi pada setiap siklusnya. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa setelah penggunaan media timeline digital dalam pembelajaran sejarah, kemampuan berpikir kronologis siswa dapat meningkat dengan signifikan. Peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kronologis tersebut dapat dilihat dari perolehan penilaian sub indikator kemampuan berpikir kronologis siswa setelah penggunaan media timeline digital dalam pembelajaran sejarah. Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan media timeline digital dalam pembelajaran sejarah bisa menjadi suatu alternatif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kronologis siswa di kelas XI IPS 3 SMA Negeri 1 Cicalengka. This research is entitled "The Use of Digital Timeline Media to Improve Students' Chronological Thinking Ability in History Learning (Classroom Action Research in Class XI IPS 3 SMA Negeri 1 Cicalengka)". This research is motivated by the problems found in class XI IPS 3 SMA Negeri 1 Cicalengka, namely the low ability of students' chronological thinking in learning history. Whereas the ability to think chronologically is one of the basic abilities that must be possessed by students. The main purpose of this research is to improve students' chronological thinking skills. The indicators developed in this study are the results of the researcher's synthesis by referring to experts and previous research, namely the ability to read information from a digital timeline; show cause-and-effect relationships in historical events; sequence historical events; explain the concepts of continuity and change. From these indicators, the researcher developed more sub-indicators. This study used classroom action research method and was conducted in 4 cycles. This research design uses the Kemmis and McTaggart model whose stages consist of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection in each cycle. The results of this study show that after the use of digital timeline media in learning history, students' chronological thinking skills can improve significantly. The increase in the ability to think chronologically can be seen from the acquisition of the assessment of sub-indicators of students' chronological thinking ability after the use of digital timeline media in learning history. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that the use of digital timeline media in learning history can be an alternative to improve students' chronological thinking skills in class XI IPS 3 SMA Negeri 1 Cicalengka.
