Abstract

Latar belakang penelitian ini yaitu adanya temuan kesulitan seorang siswa kelas V sekolah dasar dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mendapatkan gambaran yang menyeluruh perihal kesulitan siswa kelas V dalam menyelesaikan masalah kontekstual matematika. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif. Adapun desain penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu studi kasus. Subjek penelitian ini terdiri dari 20 siswa kelas V di salah satu sekolah dasar negeri Kabupaten Bandung Barat. Instrumen penelitian ini terdiri dari tes dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu kemampuan mayoritas siswa kelas V berkategori sedang dalam memahami masalah, membuat rencana penyelesaian, melaksanakan penyelesaian, dan meninjau kembali langkah penyelesaian untuk menyelesaikan masalah kontekstual matematika. Jenis-jenis kesulitan siswa yaitu kesulitan bahasa, kesulitan membuat rencana penyelesaian, kesulitan melaksanakan rencana penyelesaian, dan kesulitan meninjau kembali langkah penyelesaian. Solusi mengatasi jenis-jenis kesulitan tersebut melalui metode pengelolaan grafik, metode pengajaran remedial, metode bernyanyi, metode register matematika, metode jarimatika, model pendidikan matematika realistik, model pembelajaran berbasis proyek, pembelajaran berbasis masalah, dan pendekatan kooperatif kontrol. Sedangkan, bagi siswa yang tidak mengalami kesulitan menyelesaikan masalah kontekstual matematika diberikan program pengayaan. Hasil penelitian ini dapat dipertimbangkan oleh peneliti selanjutnya untuk dikembangkan secara lebih luas dalam menganalisis kesulitan siswa menyelesaikan masalah kontekstual matematika dengan topik materi yang berbeda. This study's background is the difficulty a grade V elementary school student in solving mathematical problems. This study aims to get a comprehensive picture of the difficulty of grade V students in solving contextual mathematical problems. The method used in this study is qualitative. The research design used in this study is a case study. The subjects of this study consisted of 20 grade V students in one of the public elementary school in West Bandung Regency. This research instrument consists of tests and interviews. The result of this study is the ability of most grade V students in the medium category to understand problems, make resolution plans, implement solutions, and review solving steps to solve contextual mathematical problems. The types of student difficulty are difficulty in languages, difficulty in making a resolution plans, difficulty implementing the completion plans, and difficulty in reviewing completion steps. Solutions overcome this difficulty with graphic organizer methods, remedial teaching methods, singing methods, mathematical register methods, finger math methods, realistic mathematics education models, project-based learning models, problem-based learning models, and cooperative control mathematical approaches. Meanwhile, students with no difficulty in solving mathematical contextual problems are given enrichment programs. The results of this study can be considered by subsequent researchers to be developed more broadly in analyzing students' difficulty in solving mathematical contextual problems with different material subjects.
