Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kualitas hasil pembelajaran menulis teks deskripsi dikarenakan peserta didik kesulitan dalam menemukan ide dan gagasan, peserta didik pun belum mampu mengembangkan paragraf dengan baik. Metode yang digunakan oleh guru masih konvensional dalam mengajar dan peserta didik kesulitan dalam pemilihan kata. Oleh karena itu, guru dituntut untuk mengembangkan pembelajaran keterampilan menulis peserta didik dalam menghasilkan teks deskripsi. Mengacu pada hal tersebut, pembelajaran dengan menggunakan media yang menarik merupakan salah satu upaya dalam mencapai keberhasilan proses belajar mengajar. Dalam penelitian ini mind mapping diharapkan menjadi salah satu media pembelajaran yang menjadi solusi dalam permasalahan rendahnya kualitas hasil pembelajaran menulis teks deskripsi serta kreativitas peserta didik di kelas pada pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia dalam keterampilan menulis teks deskripsi di SD Negeri 1 Sukahurip. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan desain pre-experiment one group pretest-posttest menggunakan objek tunggal yang berjumlah 26 peserta didik di kelas V dan melibatkan dua variabel yaitu variabel bebas dan variabel terikat, variabel bebas yaitu media mind mapping dan variabel terikat yaitu keterampilan menulis teks deskripsi. Penelitian ini dilakukan sebanyak 4 kali pertemuan, sehingga hasil penelitian didapat rata-rata skor pretest sebesar 38,08 dan rata-rata skor posttest sebesar 82,30. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan media mind mapping dalam keterampilan menulis teks deskripsi di kelas V sekolah dasar cukup efektif digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran terkhusus pada mata pelajaran bahasa Indonesia. This research is motivated by the low quality of learning outcomes in writing description texts because students have difficulty in finding ideas and ideas, students have not been able to develop paragraphs properly. The method used by the teacher is still conventional in teaching and students have difficulty in selecting words. Therefore, teachers are required to develop students' writing skills learning in producing description text. Referring to this, learning by using interesting media is one of the efforts in achieving the success of the teaching and learning process. In this study, mind mapping is expected to be one of the learning media that becomes a solution to the problem of the low quality of learning outcomes in writing description text as well as the creativity of students in the classroom in Indonesian language learning in the skill of writing description text at SD Negeri 1 Sukahurip. This research is an experimental study with a pre-experiment one group pretest-posttest design using a single object totaling 26 students in class V and involves two variables, namely the independent variable and the dependent variable, the independent variable is mind mapping media and the dependent variable is the skill of writing description text. This research was conducted 4 times a meeting, so that the research results obtained an average pretest score of 38.08 and an average posttest score of 82.30. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the use of mind mapping media in writing description text skills in grade V elementary school is quite effective in the learning process, especially in Indonesian language subjects.
