Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi adanya penurunan keterampilan bercerita ekspresif pada siswa SMP yang sudah seharusnya menguasi keterampilan bercerita menggunakan fungsi ekspresif bahasa. Namun fakta saat melakukan penelitian, kemampuan bercerita ekspresif siswa SMP jauh dari kriteria ketuntasan minimal (KKM). Maka dihadirkan metode silang cerita berbantuan media gambar cerita rakyat Jawa Barat sebagai alternatif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan bercerita ekpresif. Rumusan masalahnya adalah (1) Bagaimanakah profil pembelajaran bercerita siswa kelas VII SMP Budi Mulia?; (2) Bagaimana kemampuan bercerita ekspresif siswa kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol sebelum dan sesudah mendapat perlakuan?; (3) Apakah metode silang cerita berbantuan media gambar cerita rakyat Jawa Barat efektif dalam pembelajaran bercerita ekspresif?; Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMP Budi Mulia Karawang, menggunakan metode eksperimen kuasi. Sampel diambil dengan cara menentukan kriteria dari populasi siswa kelas VII SMP, dengan hasil kelas VII A sebagai kelas eksperimen, dan kelas VII B sebagai kelas kontrol. Berdasarkan analisis data penelitian dihasilkan: pada pretes kelas eksperimen nilai rata-ratanya adalah 36 sedangkan pada posttes nilai rata-ratanya adalah 60 dengan kenaikan rata-rata 24 skor. Jadi, metode silang cerita berbantuan media gambar cerita rakyat Jawa Barat efektif digunakan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan bercerita ekspresif siswa SMP. Kata kunci: Metode silang cerita, media gambar cerita rakyat Jawa Barat, pembelajaran bercerita ekspresif This research is against the background of a decline in expressive storytelling skills in junior high school students who should master storytelling skills using the expressive function of language. However, the fact that when conducting research, the expressive storytelling ability of junior high school students is far from the minimum completeness criteria (KKM). Therefore, the cross-story method assisted by West Java folklore image media was presented as an alternative to improve expressive storytelling skills. The formulation of the problem is (1) What is the profile of storytelling learning for grade VII students of SMP Budi Mulia?; (2) How is the expressive storytelling ability of experimental class and control class students before and after receiving treatment?; (3) Is the cross-storytelling method assisted by West Java folklore image media effective in learning expressive storytelling?; The research was conducted at SMP Budi Mulia Karawang, using quasi-experimental methods. Samples were taken by determining criteria from the population of class VII junior high school students, with the results of class VII A as the experimental class, and class VII B as the control class. Based on the analysis of research data generated: the average score of the experimental class pretest was (36) and the average score of the experimental class posttest was (60) with an average increase (24). So, the cross-storytelling method assisted by West Java folklore image media is effectively used to improve the expressive storytelling skills of junior high school students.
