Abstract

This research is motivated by the stigma of the Mobile Legends community: Bang Bang community stigma against female players who play Mobile Legends. There is a stigma on TikTok social media which states that women who play Mobile Legends and use Angela's hero in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang will be labeled as "sigh" players, "prostitutes", and other things related to something that dehumanizes women. In addition, female players are also often considered to lack the same skills as men and are considered to "sell themselves" to achieve high rankings in the game. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to open people's minds to their respect for others, reduce hate speech, and appreciate gender equality. This research utilizes a qualitative method. Data was collected using discourse analysis techniques on six categories of videos related to user Angela's discrimination on TikTok social media. In addition, literature study techniques were also used to process the data. This research topic allows it to be studied using Sara Mills' critical discourse analysis. The findings in this study show that the comments in the Angela Desah TikTok phenomenon can display discrimination against women in terms of subject - object and reader positions based on Sara Mills' critical discourse analysis perspective. The results of this study are expected to help open people's minds to appreciate women more in online games because women have the same rights, skills, and portions as men in any aspect.
