Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya kemampuan pemahaman konsep dalam pembelajaran matematika dan fakta rendahnya kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa SMP. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengkaji peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan model pembelajaran saintifik berbantuan mind mapping lebih baik daripada siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran saintifik saja. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitiannya adalah Nonequivalent Pretest-Postest Control Group Design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII di salah satu SMP Negeri di Kota Bandung dengan sampel sebanyak dua kelas yang sudah ada. Salah satu kelas sebagai kelas eksperimen menggunakan model pembelajaran saintifik berbantuan mind mapping dan kelas lainnya sebagai kelas kontrol menggunakan model pembelajaran saintifik saja. Adapun penelitian ini diperoleh melalui tes berdasarkan indikator kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran saintifik berbantuan mind mapping lebih baik daripada siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan model pembelajaran saintifik saja dan terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan pembelajaran saintifik berbantuan mind mapping dengan yang hanya mendapatkan pembelajaran saintifik saja. This research is motivated by the importance of the ability to understand concepts in learning mathematics and the fact that junior high school students' conceptual understanding is low. The purpose of this study is to examine the increasing the ability to understand mathematical concepts of students who received learning with a scientific learning model assisted by mind mapping is better than students who receive only scientific learning. The method used in this study was quasi�experimental with the Nonequivalent Pretest-Postest Control Group Design. The population in this study were all students of class VIII at one of the punlic junior high school in the city of Bandung with a sample of two existing classes. One of the classes as an experimental class uses a scientific learning model assisted by mind mapping and the other class as a control class uses only a scientific learning model. This research was obtained through tests based on indicators of the ability to understand mathematical concepts. The results of the study showed that the increase in the ability to understand mathematical concepts of students who received scientific learning assisted by mind mapping was significantly higher than students who received learning using only scientific learning models and there were differences in the increase in the ability to understand mathematical concepts of students who received learning using scientific learning assisted by mind mapping.
