Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi peningkatan literasi sains siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning pada materi sistem ekskresi pada manusia. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian one group pretest-posttest design. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII di salah satu SMP di Kota Bandung, dengan sampel penelitian salah satu kelas di sekolah tersebut. Kemampuan literasi sains yang terdapat pada penelitian ini terdiri dari tiga aspek yaitu aspek kompetensi, pengetahuan, dan konteks. Instrument yang digunakan terdiri dari soal essai dan angket respon siswa terhadap model problem based learning. Hasil yang didapatkan adalah adanya peningkatan kemampuan literasi sains siswa secara keseluruhan setelah menggunakan model problem based learning, namun pada kategori rendah, dengan nilai N-Gain 0,23. Dari 5 soal kemampuan literasi sains, terdapat dua soal memiliki peningkatan dengan kategori sedang, dan tiga soal lainnya berada pada kategori rendah. Adapun respon siswa terhadap model pembelajaran problem based learning adalah baik dan positif. This study aims to identify the increase in scientific literacy of junior high school students by using the Problem Based Learning learning model on the material of the excretory system in humans. This research is a quantitative research with a one group pretest-posttest design. The population in this study were students of class VIII at a junior high school in the city of Bandung, with the research sample being one of the classes at the school. The scientific literacy skills found in this study consist of three aspects, namely competence, knowledge, and context. The instrument used consisted of essay questions and student response questionnaires to the problem based learning model. The results obtained were an increase in students' scientific literacy skills as a whole after using the problem based learning model, but in the low category, with an N-Gain value of 0.23. Of the 5 questions of scientific literacy ability, there are two questions that have an increase in the moderate category, and the other three questions are in the low category. The student response to the problem based learning model is good and positive.
