Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa di kelas XI IPS MAN 1 Subang. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperimen dengan desain nonequivalent control group design. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPS MAN 1 Subang, dimana kelas XI IPS 2 (kelas kontrol) dan kelas XI IPS 3 (kelas eksperimen) diambil dengan teknik purposive sampling sebagai sampel. Teknik dan alat pengumpulan data yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini adalah tes uraian sebanyak 5 butir yang merupakan soal HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills). Indikator kemampuan berpikir kritis yang dinilai dengan 5 butir soal tersebut adalah interpretasi, membuat alasan, dan merumuskan solusi. Uji hipotesis yang digunakan adalah uji t dua sampel berkorelasi (paired sample t test) dan uji t dua sampel tak berkorelasi (independent sample t test). Dari uji hipotesis tersebut didapatkan hasil: (i) Terdapat perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas eksperimen sebelum dan sesudah penerapan metode inkuiri terbimbing. (ii) Terdapat perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas eksperimen yang diberi perlakuan metode inkuiri terbimbing dan siswa kelas kontrol yang tidak diberi perlakuan metode inkuiri terbimbing. This research is motivated by the low critical thinking skills of student in XI IPS MAN 1 Subang. The method used in this study is quasi-experimental with nonequivalent control group design. The population in this study consists of XI IPS MAN 1 Subang, where class XI IPS 2 (control group) and class XI IPS 3 (experimental group) were selected as sample using purposive sampling. The data collection technique used in this study is 5 items test that assess Higher Order Thinking Skilss (HOTS). The indicators of critical thinking ability assessed by those 5 items test are interpretation, construct reasoning and formulate solutions. Hyphoteses test used in this study are paired sample t test and independent sample t test. From those hypotheses tests, the following result were obtained: (i) There is a difference in the critical thinking skills of experimental group before and after the implementation of guided inquiry method. (ii) There is a difference in the critical thinking skills of experimental group who were subjected to guided inquiry method and the control group who were not subjected to guided inquiry method.
