Abstract
Kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis merupakan kemampuan yang paling rendah pada pembelajaran soal cerita matematika di kelas V salah satu sekolah dasar negeri kec. kotabaru kab. karawang, hal ini yang menjadi latarbelakang untuk melakukan penelitian. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari tahu sejauh mana kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa, faktor penyebab keberhasilan dan ketidakberhasilan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita operasi penjumlahan dan pengurangan pecahan. Penelitian ini penelitian studi kasus dengan metode kualitatif. Analisis data melalui teknik tes dan wawancara dengan subjek 5 orang siswa. Hasil yang didapat memperlihatkan bahwa rata-rata kemampuan siswa 57,6 yang termasuk dalam kategori cukup. Kemudian faktor penyebab keberhasilan dan ketidakberhasilan siswa dilatarbelakangi oleh faktor internal dan eksternal. Faktor internal tersebut yaitu intelektual siswa, minat dan bakat siswa dibidang matematika, sikap siswa saat pembelajaran dan kemampuan berkomunikasi yang baik antara siswa dengan orangtua dan dengan guru. Sedangkan faktor eksternal disebabkan oleh peran orangtua dirumah dalam membimbing, membantu dan mengarahkan siswa ketika belajar serta peran guru dalam membimbing dan mengajar di kelas. Ability in solving mathematical problem of fifty grade is the low ability of math in solving mathematical problem at one of the elementary schools in Kotabaru sub-district of Karawang distric, this one who motivate for do research. This research aims to know the students' ability and the factors that caused the success and failure of students' in solving the operation of adding and substracting fraction on story problems. The type of this research is a case study with a qualitative approach. Data collection is conducted by using test and interview with 5 student as research subjects. The result of the study show average ability in solving mathematical problem is 57,6. It can be said that fifty grade student in that school are the sufficient category. Then the factors influence the success and failure of students are caused by internal and external factors. The internal factors are students intellectual, students 'interest and talent in math, students attitudes during learning, and students' communication skills with students-parents and also students-teachers. Meanwhile, the external factors are caused by the role of parents at home in guiding, helping and directing students when learning and the teacher's role in guiding and teaching in the classroom.
