Abstract

Berpikir kritis dan berpikir kreatif matematis diperlukan oleh siswa agar mampu menyelesaikan permasalahan secara terbuka dan tidak dengan mudah menerima sesuatu. Kenyataan saat ini, kemampuan berpikir kritis dan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa SMP Indonesia masih rendah. Salah satu pembelajaran dalam metematika yang dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa adalah pembelajaran dengan pendekatan Differentiated Instruction (DI). Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut, perlu dilakukan penelitian terkait dengan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan berpikir kreatif matematis. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa ditinjau secara keseluruhan dan berdasarkan tingkat kemandirian belajar. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah quasi experiment dengan the nonequivalent control group design. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII salah satu SMP di Kota Bandung, Jawa Barat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan pendekatan differentiated instruction lebih baik daripada pembelajaran dengan pendekatan konvensional; (2) terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa yang memiliki kemandirian tinggi, sedang dan rendah; (3) peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan pendekatan differentiated instruction lebih baik daripada pembelajaran dengan pendekatan konvensional; (4) terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa yang memiliki kemandirian tinggi, sedang dan rendah. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan analisis data, penulis menyimpulkan bahwa pendekatan differentiated instruction dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa. Critical thinking and creative thinking is needed to solve problems openly. However, the critical thinking and creative thinking ability of Indonesian junior high school students haven’t been optimal. One of mathematics teaching and learning that can improve students' critical thinking and creative thinking ability is Differentiated Instruction (DI) approach. The purpose of this study is to know the improvement critical thinking and creative thinking ability of students who obtained learning with the Differentiated Instruction approach fully verified and based on the level of independence of learning. The method used in this study was quasi experiment with the nonequivalent control group design. The subjects of this study were eighth grade students of one of the junior high schools in Bandung, Jawa Barat. The results shows that: (1) there are differences in the improvement in critical thinking ability of mathematical students who experienced teaching and learning using the Differentiated Instruction approach and conventional approach; (2) there are differences in the increase in critical mathematical thinking ability of students who have high, medium and low learning independence; (3) there are differences in the improvement in creative thinking ability of mathematical students who experienced teaching and learning using the Differentiated Instruction approach and conventional approach; (4) there are differences in the increase in creative mathematical thinking ability of students who have high, medium and low learning independence. The results of research and data analysis, conclude that the Differentiated Instruction approach can improve students' critical thinking ability and creative thinking ability.
