Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurang berkembangnya kemampuan menyimak siswa di SDN Cisomang 2 Kabupaten Bandung. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan kurangnya kemampuan siswa dalam memahami materi pelajaran khususnya cerita pendek yang dibacakan oleh guru. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan menyimak siswa kelas V SDN Cisomang 2 sebelum dan sesudah penerapan metode Brain Gym, mengetahui perbedaan kemampuan menyimak antara kelompok siswa yang menerapkan metode Brain Gym dengan kelompok siswa yang tidak menerapkan metode Brain Gym. Pelaksanaan penelitian dilakukan dengan metode eksperimen kuasi. Subjek penelitiannya, yaitu siswa kelas VA sebanyak 20 orang dan siswa kelas VB sebanyak 20 orang. Adapun data yang diperoleh merupakan hasil tes tulis, yaitu kemampuan memahami isi cerita dan tes lisan, yaitu kemampuan menceritakan kembali isi cerita yang diberikan pada saat pretest dan postest. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode Brain Gym berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan menyimak siswa. Dilihat dari peningkatan nilai tes tulis dan tes lisan pada kelompok eksperimen (kelas VB) yang lebih signifikan dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol (kelas VA). Kesimpulannya adalah metode Brain Gym berpengaruh terhadap tingkat kemampuan menyimak siswa kelas V. Saran yang peneliti ajukan, hendaknya peneliti berikutnya dapat melakukan penelitian dengan alokasi waktu yang lebih lama dengan mempertimbangkan aspek IQ , jenis kelamin dan riwayat trauma psikis maupun fisik pada area kapala serta memvariasikan gerakan serta penggunaan media yang disesuaikan dengan situasi dan kondisi di sekolah sehingga potensi siswa akan lebih optimal. This study was conducted by the lack of students to develop listening ability at SDN Cisomang 2 Bandung regency. This study was indicated by the lack of students ability in understanding the subject matter especially short stories read by the teacher. The study was aimed to determine the ability of listening in fifth grade students of SDN 2 Cisomang before and after the application of Brain Gym method, to know the differences between a group of students who apply of Brain Gym method with a group of students who did not apply of Brain Gym method. The study was conducted with quasi-experimental method. The research subject were 20 students of class VA and 20 students of class VB. The data was obtained of the result written test, which was the ability to understood the content of the story and oral tests, the ability to retell the story given at pretest and posttest. The results showed that the method of Brain Gym was influence toward students' listening ability. It was evidently proved by the increased value of a written test and an oral test in the experimental group (class VB) was significant than the control group (class VA). The conclusion was Brain Gym method influenced of students' listening ability in fifth grade elementary school. Based on the result, the author suggested to future researchers should be able to conduct research with longer time allocation by considering aspects of IQ, sex and history of physical or psychological trauma in the head area and varying movements and the used of media that was tailored to the situation and the conditions in the schools so that potential students would be optimal.
