Abstract
Penelitian ini berupaya mengkaji tentang efisiensi model pembelajaran discovery yang melibatkan pengukuran mental effort serta task performance siswa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah : (1) untuk mengetahui apakah efisiensi pembelajaran discovery berbantuan multimedia lebih tinggi daripada pembelajaran discovery tanpa bantuan multimedia; (2) untuk mengetahui respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran discovery berbantuan multimedia. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan menggunakan desain nonequivalent control group design dengan pengambilan sampel secara purposive sampling yang dilakukan pada siswa kelas 9 di SMP Negeri 14 Bandung. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah instrumen tes, instrumen pengukuran usaha mental, instrumen respon siswa, dan lembar observasi. Dari hasil perhitungan terhadap usaha mental dan skor postes (performance) diperoleh skor efisiensi relatif model pembelajaran discovery berbantuan multimedia adalah +0,30, sedangkan efisiensi model pembelajaran discovery tanpa bantuan multimedia sebesar -0,30. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa : (1) efisiensi pembelajaran discovery berbantuan multimedia lebih tinggi daripada pembelajaran discovery tanpa bantuan multimedia; (2) secara umum, respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran discovery berbantuan multimedia adalah positif. The objectives of study are: (1) to find out whether the efficiency of multimedia assisted–discovery learning is higher than discovery learning without using multimedia; (2) to find out student’s response toward multimedia assisted–discovery learning. This study is anquasi experimental research with nonequivalent control group design using purposive sampling conducted in SMP Negeri 14 Bandung at grade 9th. The instruments consist of: test, mental effort measurement, student’s response sheet, and observation sheets. Based on the calculation on mental effort and task performance is obtained that the efficiency of multimedia assisted–discovery learning is +0,30 whereas discovery learning without multimedia is –0,30. The results of study show that: (1) the efficiency of multimedia assisted–discovery learning is higher than discovery learning without using multimedia; (2) Generally, student’s response toward multimedia assisted–discovery learning is positive.
