Abstract
Penelitian ini membahas tentang penggunaan metode Task Based Learning pada pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di Sekolah Dasar. Kenyataan di lapangan menggambarkan kemampuan penguasaan vocabulary siswa masih kurang. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa tujuan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris belum tercapai. Agar suatu proses belajar mengajar dapat mencapai tujuan pembelajaran maka diperlukan suatu metode pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa. Metode Task Based Learning menciptakan proses belajar mengajar yang lebih mengutamakan pada kegiatan siswa. Penggunaan metode Task Based Learning berpeluang digunakan melalui penelitian quasi eksperimen yang dilaksanakan di kelas IV SDN Gunungpereng 1 Cihideung Kota Tasikmalaya. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk menciptakan proses belajar mengajar yang lebih mengutamakan pada kegiatan siswa secara aktif dalam proses belajar mengajar sehingga pembelajaran menjadi lebih bermakna dan memberikan pengaruh yang positif terhadap kemampuan penguasaan vocabulary siswa di kelas IV SDN Gunungpereng 1 Cihideung Kota Tasikmalaya melalui penggunaan metode Task Based Learning. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen semu (quasi eksperimen) jenis non equivalent control group. Hal ini didasarkan karena tidak semua variabel yang muncul dalam kondisi eksperimen dapat diatur dan dikontrol secara ketat. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kuantitatif. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV SDN Gunungpereng 1 Cihideung Kota Tasikmalaya sebanyak 25 orang siswa. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan Independent Sample T-Test menunjukan bahwa terdapat perbedaan rata-rata nilai post-test dan N-Gain antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris dengan menggunakan metode Task Based Learning berpengaruh lebih baik dari pada menggunakan metode konvensional, hal itu berarti menjadi jawaban untuk hipotesis penelitian.. Jadi, metode Task Based Learning berpengaruh terhadap penguasaan vocabulary siswa di sekolah dasar. Kata Kunci : Metode Task Based Learning, penguasaan vocabulary ABSTRACT THE INFLUENCE OF USING TASK BASED LEARNING METHOD TOWARD STUDENT’S VOCABULARY MASTERY IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (Quasi-Experimental Research in English Learning at IV Grade SDN Gunungpereng 1 and SDN Gunungpereng 4 Kota Tasikmalaya) This research discusses the influence of Task Based Learning method in learning English in elementary school. Based on pra-reseach the ability of the students vocabulary mastery still lacking. This fact shows that the purpose of English learning has not been reached. In order for a learning process to achieve the learning objectives, we need a method of learning that appropriate that needs by the students. Method of task based learning creates a learning process that puts more emphasis to student activities. Using method of task based learning is likely to be used through a quasi-experimental study conducted in the fourth grade SDN Gunungpereng 1 Cihideung Tasikmalaya. This research was conducted with the aim of creating a learning process that prioritizes the activities of students actively in the learning process so that learning becomes more meaningful and provide a positive influence on the ability to vocabulary mastery in fourth grade students of SDN Gunungpereng 1 Cihideung Tasikmalaya through task based learning method. Research method that used is a quasi-experiment (quasi-experimental) type of non-equivalent control group. It is based because not all of the variables that appear in the experimental conditions can be set and strictly controlled. The approach used in this study is a quantitative approach. Sources of the data in this study were fourth grade 25 students at SDN 1 Cihideung Gunungpereng Tasikmalaya. Based on the results of the calculation of the Independent Sample T-Test showed that there are differences in the average value of the post-test and N-gain between the experimental class and control class so that it can be concluded that learning English by using the Task Based Learning effect is better than using the conventional method , it was meant to be the answer to the research hypothesis. Using task Based Learning method is affect toward stuent’s vocabulary mastery at the elementary school. Keywords: Method of task based learning, Vocabulary mastery
