Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan tingkat sedentary behavior siswa lakilaki dan siswa perempuan dan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara dukungan orang tua dengan sedentary behavior siswa sekolah dasar. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian korelasi. Sampel penelitian ini sebanyak 145 responden. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk pengambilan data sedentary behavior menggunakan Adolescent Sedentary Activity Questionnaire (ASAQ) dan untuk dukungan orang tua menggunakan Parents’ Activity-Related Parenting Practices. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan hampir seluruh responden termasuk sedentary behavior tinggi sebanyak (61%), sebagian responden yang termasuk sedentary behavior sedang sebanyak (39%), dan tidak satupun responden yang termasuk kategori sedentary behavior rendah. Tidak ada perbedaan tingkat sedentary behavior antara siswa laki-laki dan siswa perempuan. Tidak ada hubungan antara dukungan orang tua dengan sedentary behavior pada siswa sekolah dasar di daerah perkotaan. Anak siswa sekolah dasar yang melakukan sedentary behavior dengan waktu yang cukup lama akan berdampak buruk dalam kesehatannya. Sehingga, peran orang tua sangat diperlukan agar orang tua perlu mengawasi dan membatasi anaknya dalam melakukan sedentary behavior dan memberikan aktivitas fisik yang bermanfaat bagi perkembangan dan pertumbuhan anak. This study aimed to determine differences in the level of sedentary behavior of male and female students and to determine the relationship between parental support and sedentary behavior of elementary school students. The method used quantitative research with a correlation research design. The sample involved were 145 respondents. The instrument used to collect data on sedentary behavior was Adolescent Sedentary Activity Questionnaire (ASAQ) and for parenting support was Parents’ Activity-Related Parenting Practices. The results showed that almost all respondents were included in high sedentary behavior (61%), some of the respondents were included in moderate sedentary behavior (39%), and none of the respondent was belonged to the low sedentary behavior category. There was no difference in the level of sedentary behavior between male and female students. There was no relationship between parental support and sedentary behavior among elementary school students in urban areas. Elementary school students who did sedentary behavior for a long time would have negative impact on their health. Thus, the role of parents was necessary so that parents needed to supervise and limit their children in carried out sedentary behavior and provided physical activity that was beneficial for development and growth of children.
