Abstract

ABSTRAK
Penelitian mengenai komunikasi terapeutik yang dilakukan oleh konselor terhadap ODHA (Orang dengan HIV/AIDS). ODHA merupakan singkatan dari Orang dengan HIV/AIDS, sebagai pengganti istilah penderita yang mengarah pada pengertian bahwa orang tersebut sudah secara positif didiagnosa terinfeksi HIV/AIDS. Penelitian ini dilakukan bertujuan untuk mengetahui teknik-teknik komunikasi terapeutik, komunikasi verbal, komunikasi nonverbal dan tujuan dari komunikasi terapeutik yang digunakan konselor terhadap ODHA. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah studi kasus dengan pendekatan kualitatif pada konselor di Yayasan Syair Sahabat Jakarta. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa teknik komunikasi terapeutik yang diterapkan oleh konselor terhadap ODHA adalah: mendengarkan, pertanyaan terbuka, mengulang, klarifikasi, refleksi, memfokuskan, identifikasi tema, diam, dan informing. Disamping itu terdapat 4 teknik komunikasi verbal yang diterapkan oleh konselor diantaranya adalah: respon fasilitatif, bercerita, permainan peringkat dan melengkapi kalimat dan juga 4 teknik dari bentuk komunikasi nonverbal kreatif yang dapat di terapkan pada ODHA, yaitu: menulis, menggambar, magis dan bermain begitu pula dengan tujuan dari komunikasi terapeutik, konselor melakukan berbagai hal untuk membantu ODHA merealisasikan diri, mengidentitas diri, membantu kemampuan membina hubungan dan peningkatan fungsi dan kemampuan.

ABSTRACT
This research is about therapeutic communication of counselor in PLHIV. PLHIV stands for People with HIV/AIDS, as a substitute for the term sufferer which leads to the understanding that the person has been positively diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. The aim of this research is knowing the therapeutic communication techniques, verbal communication, nonverbal communication and the purpose of therapeutic communication relationship that was used by counselor against PLHIV. Research methods that used in this research is case study with qualitative approach on the counselor in Syair Sahabat Foundation. The finding shows that therapeutic communication techniques that was applied by counselor is: listening, broad opening, restating, clarification, reflection, focusing, theme identification, silenced, and informing. Beside that there are only 4 creative verbal communication techniques that was applied by counselor, among them there are: facilitative responding, storytelling, ranked game and complete sentences. Also 4 creative nonverbal communication techniques that was applied for PLHIV, that is: writing, drawing, magic, and playing. As well as the purpose of therapeutic communication relationship, counselor did many things to help PLHIV in realizing and identifying themselves, maintaining their relationships, and increasing their function and abilities.
