Abstract
Increased human activity has led to a significant increase in the built-up area resulting in a reduction in the landscape causing substantial ecosystem disturbance. The Cianjur Regency Environmental Service noted that over the past ten years the pace of urbanization has grown quite rapidly causing significant changes in land use, these changes have put pressure on and damaged ecological quality. This study aims to evaluate ecological quality based on the Remote Sensing Ecological Index (RSEI) temporally between 2018 and 2022. The method used has four important factors, namely Normalized Vegetation Index (NDVI), Humidity Index (WET), Land Surface Temperature (LST). and the Normalized Building-Soil Index (NDBSI) as an evaluation indicator and determines the contribution of each to ecological quality. The results showed that in 2018 the ecological quality tended to be good, with the four forming indices such as the Normalized Vegetation Index (NDVI) or high vegetation density (34.06%), Humidity Index (WET) or moist land wetness (1368, 8554 km²), Land Surface Temperature (LST) or temperatures that have a stable range and the Normalized Building-Soil Index (NDBSI) of built-up land which is classified as low (940.5943 km²). In 2022, ecological quality tends to decrease compared to 2018. For Normalized Vegetation Index (NDVI), namely reduced vegetation density (27.05%), Humidity Index (WET) increased land wettability (1665.8968 km²), Land Surface Temperature ( LST) which is getting hotter (maximum temperature 48.24 °C) and the Normalized Building-Soil Index (NDBSI) which is getting higher (753.469 km²). Utilization of the Remote Sensing Ecological Index (RSEI) can be used as a model to evaluate ecological quality and quickly displays accurate visuals that can be seen from time to time and space to space.
