Abstract
Studi tentang pengembangan program pelatihan bagi guru sekolah dasar (SD) dimaksudkan untuk meningkatkan penguasaan kompetensi profesionalnya sesuai dengan tuntutan permendiknas nomor 16/2007, yang dalam penelitian ini dimaknai sebagai kemampuan penalaran ilmiah, penguasaan konsep IPA SD beserta penerapannya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari serta penguasaan keterampilan proses sains. Dengan menguasai kemampuan-kemampuan tersebut diharapkan guru SD dapat mengelola pembelajaran IPA yang berkualitas, yakni pembelajaran yang mengartikulasikan hakikat IPA dan hakikat pendidikan IPA. Untuk menguji keterandalan program pelatihan yang diberi nama program pelatihan berbasis kompetensi yang menggunakan modul pembelajaran IPA dengan pendekatan inkuiri (PBKMI) bagi guru SD ini dilakukan penelitian dengan metode Research & Development (R&D). Sejumlah guru SD (n=30) di kota dan kabupaten Bandung dilibatkan sebagai subjek penelitian. Mereka mengikuti pembelajaran yang diawali dengan tes kecerdasan, tes awal kemampuan penalaran ilmiah dan keterampilan proses sains, lalu mengikuti pembelajaran yang menggunakan modul pembelajaran IPA berbasis inkuiri. Pembelajaran diawali dengan tes awal penguasaan konsep, kegiatan inti dan tes akhir penguasaan konsep untuk masing-masing modul. Pelatihan diakhiri dengan tes akhir kemampuan penalaran ilmiah (berpikir logis) dan keterampilan proses sains. Pada pelatihan ini, pembelajaran dilakukan dengan pemberian pengalaman langsung melalui eksperimen-eksperimen dan latihan soal-soal yang terdapat dalam modul. Data dijaring dengan sejumlah instrument (tes penalaran ilmiah, tes penguasaan konsep, tes keterampilan proses sains, lembar observasi dan pedoman wawancara). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi program PBKMI bagi guru SD (in-service training) dapat meningkatkan kemampuan penalaran ilmiah, penguasaan konsep IPA, dan penguasaan keterampilan proses sains secara signifikan. Peningkatan kemampuan-kemampuan tersebut terjadi pada semua tingkat kecerdasan (IQ) dan makin tinggi hasilnya seiring dengan naiknya tingkat kecerdasan peserta. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kemampuan penalaran ilmiah berpengaruh positif terhadap penguasaan konsep dan keterampilan proses sains peserta. A study about developing competency based training program with science by inquiry module (PBKMI) for the elementary school teachers which was conducted by research and development (R&D) method. A number of elementary school teachers (n=30) involved as subject in this study using purposive sampling. They were trained for mastering teacher professional competency in teaching science at elementary school level to fulfil the permendiknas number 16/2007, in relation to their scientific reasoning ability, elementary school’s science concepts mastery as well as the implementation on their daily life and the proficiency of science process skills. By mastering those abilities, elementary school teachers are expected to be able to manage high quality science learning considering the nature of science and the nature of science education. Pretest of scientific reasoning ability and science process skills were administered to the participants before participating in science learning process using three units of science by inquiry module as a guidance. The learning process was started by administering pre test, experiencing core activity and then having posttest for each module. Core activity meant learning by direct experience through experiments and problems solving (inquiry) exercises (hands-on & minds-on activities). Data were collected by some research instruments (IQ test, test of logical thinking or TOLT, test of science concepts mastery, science process skills test, observation sheet, and interview guide). At the end of all activities the participant had posttest of scientific reasoning and science process skills. The implementation of PKBMI program for elementary school teachers (in-service training) in this research could improve the ability of participants in applying scientific reasoning (logical thinking skill), science concepts mastery, and science process skills proficiency. The result finding showed that PKBMI program improve those abilities on the whole level of intelligences according to their intellectual development level. The results of study also showed that the level of scientific reasoning (logical thinking skill), for this training, influenced positively on their concept mastery and science process skills proficiency.
