    ABSTRAK
    Motode pembelajaran yang kurang menarik dan membosankan menjadi salah satu rendahnya faktor kemampuan pemahaman literasi sains peserta didik kelas V di sekolah dasar. Hal tersebut menjadi latar belakang penelitian ini. Pemahaman literasi sains merupakan ilmu dasar untuk mengenal dan memperluas pengetahuan yang harus dimiliki oleh setiap peserta didik. Penelitian ini berupaya untuk membuat proses pembelajaran lebih efektif sehingga terjadi perubahan yang lebih tinggi dalam kemampuan pemahaman literasi sains dengan penerapan model pembelajaran yang aktif serta bermakna yaitu Problem-Based Learning (PBL). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman literasi sains peserta didik dengan model PBL. Penelitian Tindakan Kelas menjadi metode yang dipilih oleh peneliti dengan desain Kemmis dan McTanggart. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini diperoleh kesimpulan: 1) Meningkatnya kemampuan pemahaman literasi sains peserta didik setelah diterapkan model PBL. 2) Aktivitas belajar peserta didik yang menggunakan model PBL terjadi peningkatan secara aktif dan lebih baik.

    ABSTRACT
    Learning methods that are less interesting and boring are one of the factors for the low ability to understand scientific literacy of fifth grade students in elementary schools. This is the background of this research. Understanding scientific literacy is a basic science to recognize and expand the knowledge that must be possessed by every student. This study seeks to make the learning process more effective so that there is a higher change in the ability to understand scientific literacy by applying an active and meaningful learning model, namely Problem-Based Learning (PBL). The purpose of this study was to improve students' scientific literacy understanding skills using the PBL model. Classroom Action Research is the method chosen by the researchers using the Kemmis and McTanggart design. Based on the results of this study, conclusions were obtained: 1) The students' scientific literacy understanding ability was increased after the PBL model was applied. 2) The learning activities of students who use the PBL model increase actively and are better.
