Abstract

Protean career is an individual's ability to carry out a career that driven by individual and the goal of the career to be psychologically successful. In the 21st century, students are faced with the challenges of a world of work that is less predictable and uncertain for many. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of career style counseling in improving early adulthood protean careers. The research was conducted using a quantitative approach and a single subject experimental method with an A-B pattern. The data measurement tool used a questionnaire in a scale of the Protean Career Management Scale for University Students (PCMS-U) developed by Borges et al. (2015). The research participants were 265 students of the Indonesia University of Education. The research sample is students who have a dependent, rigid, and reactive protean career. The research sample was taken using convenience sampling so that four students were willing to do the intervention. The results showed a significant increase in protean career in the subjects between baseline and intervention. This finding explains that the career style counseling program is effective in improving student careers and can be used as career counseling services at Badan BKPK UPI in facilitating students to achieve self-understanding in decision making and career development.
