Abstract
ABSTRAK Kebudayaan di masyarakat akan terus-menerus berubah. Tradisi Ngarak merupakan salah satu kebudayaan yang mengalami perubahan. Faktor pendorong terjadinya perubahan tersebut adalah modernitas. Tujuan dari penelitian ini mengkaji secara mendalam mengenai perubahan bentuk dan fungsi pada tradisi Ngarak, serta perannya terhadap sistem nilai dan pola interaksi masyarakat. Metode pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini bersumber dari observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan selain pelaksanannya menjadi meriah serta bentuknya yang modern, tradisi Ngarak saat ini memiliki fungsi pelestarian budaya serta nilai, sosial, ekonomi, dan pendidikan informal. Kemudian, masyarakat memahami adanya nilai pada kegiatan tradisi Ngarak, yaitu nilai solidaritas dan kebersamaan, nilai tolong-menolong, nilai menghormati leluhur, dan nilai kekeluargaan. Tindakan masyarakat mengikuti pelaksanaan tradisi Ngarak karena adanya motif serta keyakinan yang mendorong untuk berinteraksi dengan orang lain. Saat ini, masyarakat melangsungkan tradisi Ngarak selain karna kebiasaan juga sebagai kebutuhan. Tradisi Ngarak merupakan kebutuhan masyarakat yang menyangkut prestise. Hal tersebut terjadi karena adanya pergeseran gaya hidup di masyarakat sehingga tradisi Ngarak dilangsungkan secara meriah. Kata Kunci : Budaya, Perubahan Bentuk dan Fungsi, Tradisi Ngarak. ABSTRACT Culture in society will constantly change. The Ngarak tradition is one of the cultures that has undergone changes. The driving factor for these changes is modernity. The purpose of this study is to examine in depth the changes in form and function of the Ngarak tradition, as well as its role in the value system and patterns of community interaction. The data collection method in this study was sourced from observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that in addition to being lively and in a modern form, the Ngarak tradition currently has the function of preserving culture and values, social, economic, and informal education. Then, the community understands the value of Ngarak traditional activities, namely the value of solidarity and togetherness, the value of mutual assistance, the value of respecting ancestors, and the value of kinship. People's actions follow the implementation of the Ngarak tradition because of the motives and beliefs that encourage them to interact with other people. At present, people carry out the Ngarak tradition other than because of habit as well as a necessity. The Ngarak tradition is a community need regarding prestige. This happened because of a shift in lifestyle in the community so that the Ngarak tradition was held lively. Keywords: Cuture, Change of Form and Function, Ngarak Tradition.
