Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan rendahnya kemampuan siswa dalam menulis cerita pendek. Menulis cerpen masih dianggap sulit bagi beberapa siswa terutama kesulitan dalam menemukan dan mengembangkan topik menjadi rangkaian cerita yang utuh, terlebih dalam kurikulum 2013 siswa dituntut untuk terampil menulis teks. Dari permasalahan tersebut, dibutuhkan strategi, metode, model ataupun teknik pembelajaran yang dapat membantu dan memudahkan siswa dalam pembelajaran menulis cerpen. Maka dari itu, peneliti memilih model pembelajaran CORE (Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, Extending) berbantuan media audiovisual film pendek untuk diujicobakan dalam pembelajaran menulis cerpen pada siswa kelas XI. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui: 1) kemampuan siswa dalam menulis cerpen sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan model pembelajaran CORE berbantuan media audiovisual film pendek; 2) perbedaan antara kemampuan siswa dalam menulis cerpen pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol; 3) keefektifan model pembelajaran CORE berbantuan media audiovisual film pendek dalam pembelajaran menulis cerpen. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah eksperimen kuasi dengan desain penelitian nonequivalent control group design. Desain ini menggunakan dua kelas. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan uji hipotesis menggunakan SPSS 26 for Windows, diperoleh signifikansi 0,002 dan 0,000 pada taraf signifikansi 0,05. Maka Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kemampuan hasil pretest dan posttest pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol sebelum dan sesudah mendapat perlakuan, sehingga model pembelajaran CORE (Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, Extending) berbantuan media pembelajaran audiovisual film pendek dapat diterapkan dalam pembelajaran menulis cerpen di sekolah. Kata kunci: Model CORE, cerpen, media audiovisual. The problem of low ability of students in writing short stories become the background of this study. Writing short stories is still considered difficult for some students especially in finding and developing topics into a complete series of stories, especially for the 2013 curriculum students who are required to be skilled in writing texts. From these problems, it takes strategies, methods, models or learning techniques that can help and facilitate students in learning how to write short stories. Therefore, researchers chose CORE Learning Model (Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, Extending) assisted by short film audio-visual media to be tested in short story writing’s subject in XI grade students. The purpose of the study is to find out: 1) The student's ability to write short stories before and after using the CORE Learning Model assisted by short film audio-visual media; 2) The difference between the student's ability to write short stories on experimental classes and on control classes; 3) The effectiveness of CORE Learning Model assisted by short film audio-visual media in short story writing subject. The method used in this study was a quasi-experiment with the design of a nonequivalent control group design. This design uses two classes. Based on the results of hypothesis test calculations using SPSS 26 for Windows, significance was obtained 0.002 and 0.000 at the significance level of 0.05. So Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted so that it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the ability of pre-test and post-test results in experimental classes and control classes before and after treatment, so that CORE Learning Models (Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, Extending) based on short film audio-visual learning media can be applied in short story writing subject in schools.
