Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya hasil belajar IPA pada materi perubahan kenampakan bulan yaitu sebesar 61, selain itu dalam penyampaian konsep IPA yang abstrak diatasi dengan penjelasan guru dengan bantuan media gambar saja padahal pembelajaran IPA sebaiknya melalui proses penemuan. Penelitian ini difokuskan pada upaya peningkatan penguasaan konsep IPA melalui penerapan model Children’s Learning in Science (CLIS). Tujuan yang hendak dicapai dalam penelitian ini adalah: (1) mendeskripsikan peningkatan penguasaan konsep IPA pada kelas eksperimen melalui penerapan model CLIS dan kelas kontrol melalui penerapan model konvensional, (2) mendeskripsikan perbedaan peningkatan penguasaan konsep IPA pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol melalui instrumen tes tertulis. Metode yang digunakan adalah Quasi Experimental dengan Nonequvalent Control Group Design. Sampel untuk kelas eksperimen adalah SDN Buahbatu dan kelas kontrol adalah SDN Suntenjaya 1. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan hasil tes penguasaan konsep yang signifikan pada kelas yang menerapkan model CLIS dan model konvensional. Namun tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara peningkatan penguasaan konsep IPA pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Untuk mampu meningkatkan penguasaan konsep lebih optimal melalui penerapan model CLIS sebaiknya tes tertulis mengarah kepada penerapan konsep dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, serta penggunaan LKS sebaiknya mampu merubah konsepsi awal siswa. Kata kunci : Model Children’s Learning in Science, penguasaan konsep This research is motivated by the lack of science learning outcomes in moon phases matery in the amount of 61, as well as in the delivery of the abstract science concepts addressed by the teacher's explanations with the help of picture when learning science should be through the discovery process. This study focused on improving the mastery of science concepts through the application of the Children's Learning in Science (CLIS). Goals to be achieved in this study are: (1) describe the increasing mastery of science concepts through the application of the experimental class and the control class CLIS models through the application of conventional models, (2) describe the differences increased mastery of science concepts in the experimental class and the control class through the written test instrument. The research method used is Nonequvalent Quasi-Experimental Control Group Design. Samples for the experimental class is SDN Buahbatu and the control class is SDN Suntenjaya 1. The results showed an increase mastery of science concepts are significant in experiment class and control class. But, there is no significant difference increase in mastery of science concepts experiment class and control class.To be able improve optimal the mastery of concepts through the application of CLIS written test should lead to the application of the concept in everyday life, as well as the use of worksheets should be able to change the students initial conceptions.
