Abstract

Polusi cahaya (dalam bentuk sky glow) dapat merugikan pengamatan astronomi dan menyebabkan pemborosan energi listrik, maka dilakukanlah penelitian polusi cahaya di kota Bandung untuk mengetahui pengaruhnya terhadap astronomi dan ekonomi. Data kecerahan langit di kota Bandung (Sadang Serang dan Kopo), diambil dengan menggunakan fotometer portabel yaitu Sky Quality Meter (SQM-LU) yang telah dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret–Oktober 2013. Citra malam hari untuk rentang tahun 1992–2012 diperoleh dari Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP). Hasil penelitian mengindikasikan bahwa pada tahun 2013 kota Bandung termasuk ke dalam kategori region 0, sedangkan kualitas kecerahan langitnya termasuk ke dalam kelas 8 skala Bortle. Berdasarkan data SQM-LU, potensi pemborosan energi listrik kota Bandung selama tahun 2013 sebesar 968 ribu kWh yang setara dengan pemborosan Rp 898 juta, sedangkan berdasarkan data DMSP berpotensi terjadi pemborosan energi listrik sebesar 22 ribu kWh atau Rp 21 juta. Perbedaan hasil kedua pengukuran di atas memunculkan faktor konversi sebesar 3,3 × 10-4. Kata kunci: polusi cahaya, SQM-LU, Satelit DMSP, pemborosan energi Light pollution (in sky glow form) can harm astronomers and it can be bringing on energy waste, then must be done study of light pollution on Bandung city to find out influence on astronomy and economy. Data of sky brightness on Bandung city (Sadang Serang and Kopo), has been taken by using portable photometer that is Sky Quality Meter (SQM-LU) which has been done at Mart–October 2013. Night earth images within years 1992–2012 are obtained from Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP). Result of this studied has been indicating on year 2013 that Bandung city included on region 0, whereas quality of sky brightness included on 8th class of Bortle-scale. Based on data of SQM-LU, potential of electric energy waste at Bandung city during 2013 is 968 thousands kWh which equivalent to 898 millions IDR, whereas based on DMSP data has amount potential of electric energy waste is 22 thousands kWh or Rp 21 millions IDR. Difference of these study result emerge converted factor amounts 3.3 × 10-4. Key words: light pollution, SQM-LU , DMSP Satellite, energy waste
