Abstrak
Penelitian ini mengujicobakan metode pembelajaran role playing yang terdapat dalam pembelajaran berbicara. Penelitian ini berlatar belakang permasalahan pembelajaran berbicara siswa, terutama pada kompetensi dasar bercakap-cakap secara sopan dengan mitra bicara dalam konteks bekerja untuk kelas XI SMK. Terdapat tiga rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini, yaitu (1) Bagaimanakah kemampuan berbicara siswa kelas XI Perhotelan SMK Bina Prestasi Bangsa sebelum menggunakan metode role playing? (2) Bagaimanakah kemampuan berbicara siswa kelas XI Perhotelan SMK Bina Prestasi Bangsa setelah menggunakan metode role playing? (3) Adakah perubahan yang signifikan pada siswa kelas XI Perhotelan SMK Bina Prestasi Bangsa antara sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan metode role playing pada pembelajaran berbicara? Sesuai dengan rumusan masalah tersebut penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan berbicara siswa kelas XI Perhotelan SMK Bina Prestasi Bangsa sebelum dan setelah menggunakan metode role playing dan mengetahui apakah metode role playing dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran berbicara siswa kelas XI Perhotelan SMK Bina Prestasi Bangsa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen semu dengan rancangan the one group pretest and pos-test yang diujicobakan kepada siswa kelas XI SMK BPB tahun ajaran 2012/2013. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diperoleh rata-rata prates sebesar 65,93 dan rata-rata pascates 73,13. Hal ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan terhadap keterampilan berbicara siswa. Dalam pengujian hipotesis menggunakan rumus Uji-t dengan perolehan thitung sebesar 7,99 dan nilai ttabel pada taraf signifaksi 5% diperoleh angka sebesar 2,04 dan 2,76 pada taraf signifikansi 1%. sehingga thitung > ttabel. Dengan perolehan tersebut berarti hipotesis diterima. Dengan merujuk pada hasil Uji-t, metode role playing dapat disimpulkan efektif untuk digunakan dalam pembelajaran berbicara. Peneliti berharap dengan metode role playing dalam pembelajaran berbicara ini dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif metode pembelajaran berbicara untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara.
Abstract
This study tested the role playing learning method in speaking learning. The background of this research is taken because of so many problems of student’s speaking skill, especially on the basic of competence of polite conversation with talk partner in the contexs of work for the eleventh grade of SMK. There are three formulation of the problem in this study, namely (1) How is the speaking ability of eleventh grade students of SMK Bina Prestasi Bangsa before using role playing method? (2) What is the speech skill of the eleventh grade students of SMK Bina Prestasi Bangsa after using role playing method? (3) Are there significant achievements on the ability speaking of the eleventh grade students of SMK Bina Prestasi Bangsa before they have role playing method and after? According to the formulation of the problem, the research aims to know the speaking skill of the eleventh grade students of perhotelan of SMK Bina Prestasi Bangsa before they use the role playing method and after and to see whether the method can be used in speaking learning on them. The method of research is quasy experimental with design of the one group pretest and post test which is tasted to the students of the eleventh grade of SMK Bina Prestasi Bangsa at 2012/2013. Based on the research results, obtained an average pre-test of 65.93 and an average post-test 73.13. This shows an increase in the students' speaking skills. In hypothesis testing using t-test formula with the acquisition of 7.99 and the value of Ttable on 5% significantcy level is 2,04 and 2,76 at 1% significantcy level, so obtained Tdeduction >Ttable. With the reference of T test’s result, it can be summed up that role playing method could be used in speaking learning effectively. The researcher hope the method can be aplicated to archieve the students speaking ability.
