Abstract

Pembelajaran keterampilan vokasional yang dilaksanakan di sekolah belum dapat memberikan gambaran nyata tentang kondisi di lapangan pekerjaan dan belum cukup memberikan bekal bagi anak tunagrahita ringan untuk hidup mandiri di masyarakat setelah anak lulus dari sekolah. Berdasarkan studi pendahuluan yang dilaksanakan di SLB C Purnama Asih, peneliti menemukan anak pasca-sekolah belum mampu mengoptimalkan kemampuan dan kemandirian untuk bekerja setelah menyelesaikan sekolahnya ditandai dengan kembalinya mereka kesekolah. Ditemukan bahwa sekolah belum pernah melakukan kerjasama dengan perusahaan ataupun tempat penyaluran kerja yang ada. Pelatihan keterampilan yang diberikan di sekolah hanya sebatas pembelajaran di kelas dan belum ada tindak lanjut sebagai bahan evaluasi pihak sekolah mengenai bagaimana sebenarnya kinerja dari pembelajaran yang telah diberikan untuk mempersiapkan siswa tunagrahita ringan bekerja di lapangan. Salah satu cara yang dipandang akan memberikan pengalaman dan keterampilan bagi anak adalah melalui sistem magang. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana pelatihan membuat kasur karpet melalui sistem magang di home industry Lembang pada tunagrahita ringan pasca-sekolah di SLB C Purnama Asih. Metode penelitian dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan subyek penelitian sebanyak tiga orang. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa proses pelatihan melalui sistem magang dalam membuat kasur karpet terlaksana dengan baik dan berdampak positif terhadap peningkatan kemampuan subyek dalam membuat kasur karpet serta memberikan peluang pekerjaan untuk subyek di home industry tempat dilakasanakannya magang. ;---Learning vocational skill that implemented in schools have not got to give the obvious picture about how jobs and have not gave enough skill for mental retardation children to live independently in the society after children graduate from their school. Based on the preliminary study that implemented in SLB C Purnama Asih, researcher found that after graduate children have not been able to optimizing skills and independence to work after graduate, it is proven by they go back to school after graduate. Also found that the school has never been cooperate neither with company nor job distribution. Skill training that given in school is only about how learning in class and there is no further action for evaluate about how exactly learning for mental retardation works. The one of method that seen will give the children experience and skill is by internship program. The aim of this study is to find out making carpet mattress training by internship program for after graduate mental retardation children in SLB C Purnama Asih. This study use qualitative method with 3 participants. The data is given by observation, interview and documentation. The result of this study shows that the training by internship program positively improve children skill in making carpet mattress and also give the children opportunity to work in the internship program place.
