Abstract

Pembelajaran biologi menjadi salah satu mata pelajaran yang dianggap sulit oleh siswa, karena memiliki cukup banyak beban materi yang harus dikuasai siswa dengan alokasi waktu pada pembelajaran tatap muka yang terbatas. Hal ini menuntut guru untuk memiliki inovasi dalam pembelajaran. Dewasa ini kemajuan IT dapat memfasilitasi pembelajaran yang tidak terbatas ruang dan waktu. Adanya kemajuan IT pun menjadi tantangan baru dalam dunia pendidikan sains abad 21. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran CoI pada penguasaan konsep dan kualitas argumentasi siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan di 2 kelas yaitu sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol pada jenjang pendidikan Sekolah Menengah Atas. Penelitian dilakukan pada materi pembelajaran sistem ekskresi organ ginjal manusia. Jenis desain penelitian Non-Equivalent control group. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan beberapa jenis instrumen, penguasaan konsep menggunakan instrumen berupa soal pilihan ganda, kualitas argumentasi menggunakan soal essay, respons siswa menggunakan instrumen berupa angket dan lembar observasi keterlaksanaan sintaks CoI menggunakan instrumen berupa lembar observasi. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan diperoleh hasil bahwa: a). Terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran CoI pada penguasaan konsep dan kualitas argumentasi siswa; b) keterlaksanaan sintaks CoI dapat terlaksana dengan baik dan; c) respon siswa pada model pembelajaran CoI menunjukan respon postif dengan persentase tinggi. Kata kunci : Community of Inquiry (CoI), Penguasaan konsep, kualitas argumentasi siswa ------ Learning Biology is considered difficult by the students because it has so many materials which have to be mastered by the students with limited time allocation. Thus, teachers are demanded to create innovation in learning. Nowadays, the development of technology can facilitate learning with unlimited time and space. The development of technology can also become a new challenge in an education field especially, in the 21st century. The purpose of this research is to observe the impact of CoI learning model implementation on students’ concept mastery and argumentation quality. This research is done in two classes as the experiment class and control class in high school education level with the excretion system of a human kidney as the material of the learning process. This research uses the non-equivalent control group as the research design. This research uses some types of instruments. The concept mastery uses questions of multiple choices, meanwhile, the argumentation quality only uses essay. Students’ response uses a questionnaire and the syntax CoI observation sheet uses an observation sheet as the instrument. Based on the result of the research, it shows that: a) an impact of CoI learning model is identified towards students’ concept mastery and argumentation quality; b) CoI syntax implementation can be can be done well and; c) the students’ response towards the CoI learning model shows a positive response with a high percentage.
