Abstract

Hambatan yang dialami anak tunagrahita ringan disebabkan oleh kemampuan intelektualnya yang berada di bawah rata-rata. Akibatnya kemampuan membacanya pun lebih lambat dibanding dengan anak-anak seusianya. Pada jenjang sekolah dasar atau yang setara dengannya, kemampuan membaca permulaan menjadi pembelajaran awal yang diterima oleh siswa. Tetapi bagi anak tunagrahita ringan pembelajaran tersebut begitu sulit, terlebih jika anak-tunagrahita ringan berada di lingkungan sekolah umum. Kategori tunagrahita ringan masih berpotensi untuk mendapatkan pembelajaran dasar, termasuk pembelajaran membaca permulaan. Penyesuaian metode dan media dapat mendukung ketercapaian pembelajaran bagi anak tunagrahita ringan. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan pengaruh metode jolly phonics berbantuan media kartu sensoris dalam pembelajaran membaca permulaan pada anak tunagrahita ringan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di MI Ar-Rohman Kota Bandung. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen subjek tunggal dengan desain A-B-A. Jumlah subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah satu orang. Metode jolly phonics digunakan karena prosesnya memaksimalkan modalitas (visual, auditori, kinestetik, dan taktil), namun dirangkai dalam tahapan yang menyenangkan bagi anak. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa tes, observasi, dan wawancara. Temuan dalam penelitian ini adalah adanya peningkatan nilai rata-rata dari kondisi baseline-1, intervensi, dan baseline-2. Pada kondisi baseline-1 nilai subjek 58,57. Pada kondisi intervensi meningkat menjadi 79,28. Kemudian pada kondisi baseline-2 nilai subjek adalah 94,28. Hasil uji hipotesis: diperoleh peningkatan, sehingga H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima.Simpulanya terjadi peningkatan dalam pembelajaran membaca permulaan pada anak tunagrahita ringan setelah menggunakan metode jolly phonics berbantuan media kartu sensoris. ..... The difficulty faced by feeble minded students was caused by their intellectual ability which was below the average score. This caused them to become slow readers than their peers. In the primary level, the beginner level reading ability became the beginner level learning received by the students. However, for feeble minded students, this learning level became challenging. Moreover, it would get harder if the students were included in the public school. The feeble minded students still had potency to receive the basic learning, including beginner level reading learning. The adjustment of method and media could enhance the learning accomplishment for feeble minded students. According to the statement, this study aimed to describe the effect of Jolly Phonics method sensory card media-aided in the beginner level reading learning for feeble minded students. This study was conducted in MI Ar-Rohman Bandung. This study employed single subject experimental with the A-B-A design. The subject in this study was single subject. Jolly phonics method was employed since the process optimized the modality (visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, and tactile) and it was designed as enjoyable as possible for the students. The data collection techniques were in the form of test, observation and interview. The findings of this study depicted that there was an improvement in students’ average score from baseline-1, intervention, and baseline-2. In the baseline-1, the score of the subject was 58.57. In the intervention period, the score was increasing from 58.57 to 79.28. Then, in the baseline-2, the score of the subject was 94.28. The result of the hypotheses test: there is an improvement, so the H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. In conclusion, there was an improvement in the beginner level reading learning for feeble minded students after the implementation of jolly phonics method sensory card media-aided.
