Abstract

ABSTRAK Skripsi ini berjudul “Madrasah Nizamiyah : Peranan KH. Abdul Wahid Hasyim dalam Pembaharuan Pendidikan Islam di Pesantren Tebuireng (1934-1953)”. Secara garis besar skripsi ini mengkaji tentang peranan Wahid Hasyim dalam bidang pendidikan Islam khususnya dalam keterkaitannya dengan pembaharuan pendidikan Islam di Pesantren Tebuireng, dengan metode yang digunakan adalah metode historis yang terdiri dari empat langkah, yaitu heuristik, kritik sumber, interpretasi dan historiografi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, upaya pembaharuan pendidikan Islam di pesantren Tebuireng oleh Wahid Hasyim berawal dari adanya Gerakan Pan Islamisme di Timur Tengah, yang salah satunya menyebar ke daerah Mekkah. Saat Wahid melakukan studi di Mekkah tahun 1932, ide-ide pembaharuan Islam pun diperolehnya, baik melalui pembelajaran maupun pergaulannya dengan orang-orang yang berbeda bangsa. Hal ini menumbuhkan ide-ide pembaharuan pendidikan Islam dalam dirinya. Sekembalinya ke Tebuireng, Wahid Hasyim mengusulkan kepada Hasyim Asy’ari untuk melakukan pembaharuan dalam hal metode pelajaran dan materi ajar di Pesantren Tebuireng. Beberapa usulannya ini ternyata mendapat penolakan, baik dari masyarakat, ulama, bahkan Kiai Hasyim sendiri. Tetapi, kemudian ide-ide Wahid Hasyim ini adapula yang diterima dan diterapkan di pesantren Tebuireng, salah satunya adalah pendirian Madrasah Nizamiyah pada tahun 1934. Pada tahun 1938, Madrasah Nizamiyah ditiadakan dan dilebur dengan Madrasah Salafiyah. Adapun aspek-aspek pendidikan Islam yang diperbaharui oleh Wahid Hasyim diantaranya Tujuan Pendidikan untuk membentuk santri yang bertakwa dan berwawasan luas, Kurikulum (leerplan) dengan dimasukkannya berbagai materi ajar non agama yang salah satunya bahasa Inggris dan Belanda, dan Metode Pengajaran tutorial untuk membentuk daya kritis dan inisiatif santri. Skripsi ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi bagi peneliti lain yang akan mengkaji mengenai tokoh-tokoh pembaharuan pendidikan Islam. Kata Kunci :KH. Abdul Wahid Hasyim, Pembaharuan Pendidikan Islam, Pesantren Tebuireng, Madrasah Nizamiyah. ABSTRACT The title of this paper is “Madrasah Nizamiyah : Role of KH. Abdul Wahid Hasyim in Reforming Islamic Education in The Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School (1934-1953)”. In broad outline, this paper examines the role of Wahid Hasyim in the field of Islamic education especially in relation to the renewal of Islamic education in the Tebuireng Boarding School, with the method used is the Historical method consisting of four steps, namely heuristics, source criticism, interpretation and historiography. Based on the results of the research, Wahid Hasyim's efforts to renew Islamic education in the Tebuireng pesantren began with the Pan Islamism Movement in the Middle East. The ideas of the movement quickly spread throughout the Arabian Peninsula and the world, including Mecca. When he performed the Hajj and did a study in Mecca, he got ideas of Islamic renewal, both through learning and association with people of different nationalities. This fosters ideas for renewing Islamic education in him. Upon his return to Tebuireng, Wahid Hasyim proposed to KH. Hasyim Asy'ari to conduct updates in terms of learning methods and teaching materials in Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School. However, some of his proposals turned out to be rejected, both from the community, ulama, even Kiai Hasyim himself. But then Wahid Hasyim's ideas were accepted and applied in the Tebuireng Islamic boarding school, one of which was the establishment of the Nizamiyah Madrasah in 1934. The aspects of Islamic education that were renewed by Wahid Hasyim included The Purpose of Education is to form students who are cautious and broadminded; Curriculum (leerplan) with inclusion of variety of non-religious teaching materials, one of which is English and Dutch; and Tutorial Teaching Methods to form critical power and students initiatives. The establishment of the Islamic religious school accommodates all aspects of Islamic education reform which was initiated by Wahid Hasyim. But in 1938, Madrasah Nizamiyah was abolished and merged with the previously established Salafiyah Madrasah, and the reason for the removal of the Nizamiyah Madrasah was in that year he had begun to concentrate on his political career. This paper expected to be a reference for other researchers who will study the figures of Islamic education reform or history of Islamic education in Indonesia. Keywords : KH.
