Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi dari kegaiatan observasi yang dilakukan pada kelas XI IPS 2, yaitu rendahnya pemahaman kesejarahan siswa. Hal ini terlihat pada saat setelah pembelajaran, siswa tidak bisa menjelaskan kembali pembelajaran dengan menggunakan bahasanya sendiri, siswa tidak dapat menemukan fakta-fakta sejarah, belum dapat menjelaskan kembali suatu peristiwa secara kronologis. Berdasarkan hasil wawancara siswa, peneliti mendapat penjelasan bahwa tidak semua siswa memiliki pemahaman kesejarahan yang baik, selain itu siswa kelas XI IPS 2 juga menginginkan pembelajaran yang menyenangkan salah satunya dengan menggunakan media. Hal tersebut membuat peneliti merasa perlu meningkatkan pemahaman kesejarahan siswa dengan menerapkan media video dokumenter. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah metode penelitian Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dan menggunakan desain dari John Elliot.. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, catatan lapangan, wawancara dan studi dokumentasi yang dilakukan pada setiap siklus, siklus yang peneliti lakukan ialah sebanyak enam siklus, satu siklusnya memuat dua kali tindakan. Subjek penelitiannya adalah siswa kelas XI IPS 2. Berdasarkan hasil temuan di lapangan dapat ditarik benang merah dari penelitian ini bahwa pada setiap siklusnya penelitian ini mengalami perubahan yang positif, selain itu, pada penelitian ini ada beberapa indikator yang sering muncul pada penelitian ini yang menandakan siswa telah memiliki pemahaman kesejarahan yang baik, indikator tersebut antara lain ialah siswa dapat menceritakn kembali suatu peristiwa menggunakan bahasanya sendiri, siswa dapat menyimak narasi/video sejarah secara imajinatif. Adapun beberapa kendala yang dialami peneliti akan tetapi hal tersebut dapat diatasi oleh peneliti. Jika dilihat dari hasil observasi siswa dalam indikator pemahaman kesejarahan, bahwa penerapan media video dokumenter ini dapat meningkatkan pemahaman kesejarahan siswa dalam pembelajaran sejarah, hal tersebut dapat dilihat dari hasil penelitian observasi siswa yang pada siklus satu sampai siklus enam mengalami peningkatan;--- The background of this research was influenced by the observation activity conducted in class XI IPS 2, which is students there had the low level of their historical comprehension skill. This can be seen at the time after learning process had done, students could not explainedthe point of topic that has been given during the learning process, and students could not found the historical facts, they also could not explained the historical events chronologically. Based on the results of students interview, the researcher found that not all of students there had the same excellent historical comprehension skill, in the other side students wanted the fun learning atmosphereby using the media in every learning process. That is the reason why the researcher needs to improve students’ historical comprehension by implementing documentary video in their learning activities. This research uses Classroom Action Research method and John Elliot design. The data collection technique in this research through the observation, field notes, students interview, and documentation studies conducted on each cycle, the cycle was done sixth, and each cycle contained two actions. The subject of this research is students of class XI IPS 2. Based on the field results, it can be found the core of this research that every cycle of this research experienced brought a positive change. In addition, there are several indicators which is emerged often in this research that students indicates have a good historical comprehension. These indicators includes the students being able to re-describe an event using their own way or their own language, the students capable to listen to the naration/historical video imaginatively. There are some obstancle experienced by researchers but it can be handle by researchers. If we seen from students observation result in the indicators of historical comprehension, that the implementation of this media of documentary video can improve historical comprehension of students in learning history, it can be seen from the result of students observation studies on the cyclycal one to cycle six has increased
