Abstract
Tulisan ini bertolak dari kerisauan peneliti terhadap maraknya kabar bohong di media massa dalam satu dekade terakhir di Indonesia, setiap warga ternyata sudah lama dan terbiasa menerima kabar bohong yang dihidangkan oleh para jurnalis di media massa, untuk mencegah jebakan kabar bohong, maka dibutuhkan keterampilan kewarganegaraan yang dibentuk melalui literasi media massa sebagai jurus penyelamat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi literasi media massa sebagai basis pembentukan civic skill mahasiswa pendidikan kewarganegaraan di Universitas Pattimura. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode studi kasus. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa (1) civic skill mahasiswa PKn terbentuk melalui literasi media massa. (2) literasi media massa menjadi penting bagi mahasiswa PKn untuk mencegah jebakan kabar bohong yang kadang terselip dibalik pemberitaan di media massa. (3) kemampuan verifikasi kritis terhadap setiap berita di media massa dapat menyelamatkan mahasiswa PKn dari dampak berita bohong. (4) literasi media massa dapat membentuk keterampilan berpikir kritis mahasiswa PKn dan telah menjadi modal utama bagi mereka untuk menggiring beragam opini di media massa. Kesimpulan yang dapat ditarik dalam penelitian ini adalah literasi media massa menjadi jalan vital bagi mahasiswa pendidikan kewarganegaraan untuk menggiring beragam opini di media massa sehingga dapat menyelamatkan nalar sehat mereka dari serangan virus kabar bohong.----- This article is based on the concerns of researchers against the rise of false news in the mass media in the last decade in Indonesia, every citizen was long and accustomed to receive false news served by journalists in the mass media, to prevent the trap of false news, it requires a citizenship skills formed through mass media literacy as a savior. This study aims to identify the mass media literacy as the basis for the formation of civic skills of citizenship education students at Pattimura University. The approach used in this research is qualitative using case study method. The results of the study found that (1) civic skill of civics students formed through mass media literacy. (2) mass media literacy becomes important for civics students to prevent the trap of false news that sometimes tucked behind the news in the mass media. (3) the ability of critical verification of any news in the mass media can save civic students from the impact of false news. (4) mass media literacy can form critical thinking skills of civics students and has become the main capital for them to lead a variety of opinions in the mass media. The conclusion that can be drawn in this research is mass media literacy becomes a vital way for civic education students to lead a variety of opinions in the mass media so as to save their healthy reason from the fake news.
